I'm with Brees on this one (and not because he's my hubby ) These players that are squandering their NFL money are doing this to themselves. No one is FORCING these players to buy every 100K car out there. No one is FORCING these players to knock up every woman they meet. Learn to manage your money better, and when you retire from the NFL, you can live comfortably.

Even the military has restrictions on entiltlements based on dates.
I understand some of their points but rules are rules. Things evolve and in 20 years the benefits to players will likely be better than what they are now but many of them won't qualify to receive those benefits. I wish Brees wouldn't get caught up in this petty mess. No matter what he says to them, even if he's 100% right, they will still be pissed off. |

Travis Henry has like 10 or 11 children by that same number of women. I don't blame Drew at all for his statement.

The bottom line is they are trying to set up their own version of welfare!
What I really love is these stupid news feeds I get about the #1 draft picks having to live at home and get a job until they get paid. WOW! Welcome to reality and the world we all live in everday to pay YOUR salaries. |

Also, these older players should get over themselves. I think there should be more healthcare help, but that's about it, and I'm not saying full coverage for every player across the board, just more help. The league could offer positions to old players to help supplement the lack of income once retired, but nothing should just be given. They're fortunate enough to be handed physical gifts that even allow the to play the game and get rich and famous, and it should be their responsibility to judge life accordingly and plan with their millions to sustain a comfortable life. It's beyond absurd, and highly offensive for them to equate themselves to the misfortunate that actually NEED welfare and charity. |
