In a recent ESPN interview, Reggie Bush blamed the turf at the Superdome for his injury struggles with the Saints.

"There's a big difference between playing on turf and playing on grass," Bush said. Since appearing in all 16 contests as a rookie in '06, Bush has missed 20 games due to various injuries, most to his knees and legs. Bush is expected to hit free agency after the Saints release him. It sounds like he may focus on potential suitors that play their home games on grass.

This should be interesting.

excuses excuses excuses.

I guess if we would only let Reggie play on grass fields he would have been a BEAST!

Excuses for poor performance, IMO.... is BS. The new "Turf" while it may not be grass...is nothing like the astro turf of old.

More excuses.

I like reggie but this offseason is turning everybody against him, with his tweeting and everything.
He gets injured when he plays on normal turf, see Saints vs Carolina week 7 2008 season, injured just running normally. Stop talking reggie, go out and try and show people what you can do!

I agree, though materials have improved, the problem is compression still changes over time, hard spots develop. On the other hand, in cold climates grass can be worse. The most recent study however has found only a marginal increase in injuries as opposed to grass. At the end of the day though, if he believes there is a "big" difference it's not based on any data, just personal preference.

I am officially throwing my name into the "Reggie will play somewhere else next season" hat.

What a whiner. Check out his splits from the last few years:

Reggie Bush Stats, Splits - New Orleans Saints - ESPN

He's got higher rushing averages on turf.

Reggie needs to suck it. I'm hoping he leaves now, just one stupid comment after another.

Good, ESPN called him out. All he had to say is that he prefers grass and leave it at that. Stating it's a big difference with nothing to back it up is no different than saying, hey, look at me I'm making excuses, hear me roar.

Ok, I don't see a link to the direct article, so I don't know what context this interview was in, but if some reporter asked him if running on grass and running on turf was the same and his reply was:

"There's a big difference between playing on turf and playing on grass."

Then what is the big deal? That line is the only thing attributed to him by quotes. Until I know more, I see no reason to slam him for this.
