I wouldn't want Favre, not that he is horrible, but the one year with Minny he was in a real good situation. I am not sure he fits our O. There are times he just tosses a ball up and hopes to get lucky. No way you make a play like he did in the NFC championship with that many years. Throw it away, eat it, but you don't do that. If Tracy returns that- game over then.

I really don't see Coach Payton throwing out his precision playbook and bringing Favre in to the Saints offense, halfway through the season, to have him go out there and play sloppy pitch-and-catch, grinning, tobacco-chewin', chinstrap-unbuckled, aww-shucks, "pants on the ground" football, that's just not Payton's style at all. Some of those other teams, especially really desperate or gullible ones with non-charismatic coaches, they might go for that kind of thing and make a call like that. Which is sorta how he ended up in Minny, actually.

Also in hindsight, I tend to think Brett was all about The Streak, and now that it's done with, I think he really may be looking at retirement and post-football life much differently. I mean, to have something so massive like that going on, you really can't stop it, you can't leave it out there unfinished, you HAVE to keep going with it...but once the balloon has popped, I am sure quite a lot of his motivation to keep going went with it.

With that in mind, let’s say Favre sticks to his guns about staying retired to start the 2011 NFL season. But then, however, let’s say Ben Roethlisberger tears up his knee or Drew Brees’ surgically repaired shoulder goes out early on in the season.
Drew Brees has been healthy enough to start every game since he's been in New Orleans. I don't recall him having any shoulder problems since he's been there.
spkb25 and Beastmode like this.
