Yep...if they could only resolve that lawsuit that a few players filed against the NFL owners. Wait...Doh!! Drew's name is on that lawsuit. Maybe he's talking about close to a settlement of that law suit.

Nope...read the article. Maybe he doesn't realize he is suing his boss...I don't know.

...and furthermore...it is my opinion that making a pay scale for rookies is going to be a serious mistake. It is going to open the door for some fat cat billionaire to open his own league...or maybe even the CFL or some other league (Arena) to make a move and steal some of the glamour from the NFL.

Money talks and BS walks. If they cut the amount a rookie can make, there will be someone out there saying, "Come over here...we can give you more...much more."

On the other hand...I can't wait to see this thing play-out. A part of me wants to see all of the rich, greedy a-holes...players and owners...to get just what they deserve and that would be a great big firecracker blowing up right in their face.

As much as I love the NFL, I'm 100% down with this assessment. And to be honest, the part about rookies going elsewhere is an angle I hadn't considered...still not sure it would end up quite like that, but it's certainly possible.

Mostly I agree with the "firecracker....in their face" line. For the love of all that is right, these men are making stupid silly gobs and gobs of money - even the lowest paid among them. They are the best at what they do, true, but how friggin much is enough? And for what it's worth, our "GIs" are also the best at what THEY do, with one hell of a LOT more on the line than a pulled hammy or a concussion, and without housing paid for or partially subsidized by the government they would have a difficult time affording something as basic and essential as a place to live on their salaries. That is FACT.

I know the players want a fair deal and I respect that. I know the owners want to make as much as they can. They're business people. I respect that. But at the end of the day, I'm broke but still shelling out 150 a month for 6 months out of every year just to see my team play, and taking a family of 4 to see a game is a rare event because it is just too damned expensive.

This is why I would miss the NFL should the unthinkable happen. This is why I wouldn't lose one wink of sleep if it did. Enough is enough is enough...is enough. I can go see the "A's" play in Oakland...WITH my family...in and out the door for about 150 bucks...parking, tickets, concessions, the whole deal. 150 bucks won't buy me parking and ONE ticket to the NFL.

I have to stop typing now else I will become angry...

How 'bout the NFL take a full one-third of it's gross revenue and donate it every year to our soldiers? 3+ billion to the cause baby.

I'm glad their close. I want them to play, but I am truly miffed at the whole damn bunch of them right now...
