DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
I agree with everything you\'ve said, except that I believe we are a very talented team that does not execute plays. Regardless what the reason is, we have players very capable of being a 10-6 or better team. A team direction change is due.

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
gatorman
You are right in so many ways. We have been poor on so many things THROUGHOUT the season. All the talk of playoffs. It seems everytime it (silently mention Playoffs) we choked up. No - don\'t blame: AB, Deuce, The O-line, The D-line, injuries, special teams, referee decisions, Carney...... WE - as a franchise- never took the opportunity to get even over 500. Let\'s face it - it seemed imminently possible. But - hey - we - as a franchise - did not have the skills, brains, discipline, commitment to do it. Yeh - let\'s go and stab the player for the latest high profile error. Grow up everyone. Get real. I do not know how we even stayed in the playoff race this long. |

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
We have a glaring coaching problem. I\'m sick.
But if it\'s true that Carney has been after Haz to deal with Berger\'s holds..... |

Gatorman, all of your assertions were right on the money. And they all fall on the shoulders of the head coach and his staff.

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
Who\'s fault? I don\'t know. Offense Coaching? They kicked asss last year, did they forget how to coach? Defensive Coaching? We improved more than most thought, especially considering the abnormal amout of injuries. Special Teams Coaching? Awesome last year, did they forget how to coach? Players? We have some really good players at most positions. At least as good as many teams ahead of us in the standings. We flat didn\'t get it done. Considering everything logically, I can\'t point to one single part to blame completely. Whick makes me re-think my position on the main man in charge. Perhaps I was wrong about Haz. The players just don\'t seem to perform for him like they should. |

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
This is a good point. The thing I love most about this is that now, all of the sudden, John Carney is the worst kicker in the history of the NFL. The man has missed 5 extra point attempts in his 14 year career. Sure, he choked in this game, but he shouldn\'t have to take all the blame. The whole team played terrible. He shouldn\'t have been put in that situation.

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
Ok, I haven\'t been called retarded for a few posts, so here some stuff.
I agree with almost nothing here, except these two things: 1. New coach, now. 2. We need a much, much stronger GM. How bad is this team? Well, I think that depends on how you evaluate the badness of a team. If it is simply by wins versus losses, then we are bad, but not that bad (we can still make .500). Of course, no one thinks you should do that - since we all think there are some very good teams whose record does not reflect their ability. If we evaluate based on what each game turned on and discover some trends (that have to be a bit more than this: all the same guys played today), then we have an argument. I have not, so far, been convinced by anyone\'s argument that we are just plain bad simply because we lost some games. Also, as far as the \"any given sunday\" argument goes, I agree that this should be evaluated depending on the game. If both sides play well, then it\'s an \"any given Sunday\", otherwise, there are some reasons we lost. These reason can be evaluated, and they can be used to determine what is wrong with a team (teams aren\'t just plain bad, since teams are nothing more than a combination of people - and I know that there is not team in the NFL without at least one good player). Ok, I think I got most of that out. Sorry. I think we\'re all just a little pissed. PS - Gator, please don\'t take this as a direct reply to your post, since it is more like something that just came to me while reading this thread, and I just had to get it out. :casstet: |

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
All I have to say about this season is that there is a reason we haven\'t been consistent. There is a reason we lost to teams we shouldn\'t have lost to last season. Ultimately players play the game but I think Haslett has lost his ability to motivate his players. This season our team looked like they weren\'t sure if they actually wanted to be there playing football. I could go into many more things but I\'m just going to save my breath. Bottom line we need some major changes.

DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN. DON'T DESERVE THE PLAYOFFS
I don\'t agree with too much in that post myself.
I think anyone that follows the Saints knows this is an immensly talented team that has a couple of problem areas. I, for one, think the Saints are even more talented than some teams that are actually going to the playoffs.
This team has a good strong foundation from which to build, but to hear you tell it, we are bunch of losers that is going to have to completely rebuild. [Edited on 22/12/2003 by BillyC] |
