List of UFA Now Available (Cut)
Per wire reports, the following players are set to be cut by their respective teams on Thursday, the first day said action can take place...
I put a "*" next to guys I thought the Saints should explore... Todd Heap, TE (BAL) Kelly Gregg, NT (BAL)* Derrick Mason, WR (BAL) Willis McGehee, RB (BAL) |
|
Willis McGehee, RB (BAL)- a veteran RB that will accept his job as a role player and i bet he would be cap friendly
this is all a big "IF" with bush |
Quote:
The last thing we need is "Bad Knees" McGehee. The kid barely played his first season because both of his knees were DESTROYED in his last year of college. Everyone is one snap away from a career ending injury, but McGehee is a stiff breeze away from a career ending injury. I wouldn't lay down money that he could survive hurricane season, much less an NFL season. Pass. On the other hand, with Shockey gone, I wouldn't have a problem with taking on Todd Heap for a little more veteran instruction for Graham. Heap spent most of his career as the primary pass catcher for Baltimore. I would be pleased to see him as a #3 TE with another SB Ring on his hand before he retires. (Yes, I'm a closet Baltimore fan, sue me.) |
lmao. role player dude
|
please no "Heap o $h!t". this guy has screwed me many times in fantasy
|
All are good player I just don't think we need any of them for the money they may want. The only guy I would look at is Tood Heap but he's not going to want to be a 3 stringer TE.
|
Bring Todd Heap back to Louisiana. Jimmy Graham, David Thomas, Todd Heap.
|
Might the Saints be interested in LB Justin Durant? He would have played under Williams when he was in Jacksonville.
|
Maybe bring Brian Leonard in to replace an aging Heath Evans, who is also coming off of a serious knee injury.
|
LB Ernie Sims anyone?
|
Free agent WLB Scott Shanle has spoken to the Rams about lining up a visit.
Shanle was ineffective as an outside linebacker last season and the Saints are likely ready to move in a new direction. In St. Louis, he'd be able to battle the likes of David Vobora and Na'il Diggs for snaps. Related: RamsSource: Mike Triplett on Twitter Jul 26, 12:30 PM On Sims... I was pretty high on him coming out of college... not so much anymore. He just doesn't make enough plays for me. |
I could do without Shanle, nothing personal.
|
I'm not interested but...
The Cowboys have informed RB Marion Barber of his impending release. Barber never stood a prayer of collecting on his $4.25 million salary, and the Cowboys had to make a quick decision on his $500,000 roster bonus. MBIII entered last season as the starter, but showed no evidence of a burst even before a mid-season calf injury. After averaging 4.5 yards per carry as one of the most physical backs in the league from 2005-07, Barber's production has tailed off to 3.88 over the past three years. Now 28 and plagued by multiple leg injuries in recent seasons, Barber will have to accept a backup job on the open market. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter Jul 26, 1:41 PM |

Not available now is Charles Johnson, DE; the Panthers just did a 76mil contract (~30mil guaranteed)...
Nice to see the Panthers tie up all there money; guess the Front office there is lazy... |
The bulk of that is a signing bonus. They didn't tie up all their money and still have plenty to spend. That said, that's a huge contract tied up to a player and organization that won't be a Superbowl contender for quite a while imo.
Stewart Bradley is now available and could be a nice fit here. |

Things can change pretty damn fast in todays NFL. |
That's true... if Newton pans out, they could definitely turn it around quicker. They definitely have a stout offensive line when healthy too.
|
Packers to release Nick Barnett if they can't come to terms, according to NFL Network.
Interesting edit:Search for nick barnett |

Brian Leonard has been signed to two years (Bengals)...
Miami LB Channing Crowder is now available... Ty Warren, Pats DL, is available, but looking to geaux home to Texas... Jags Derrick Harvey (DE) and Vince Manuwai (OG) are looking for work... |

how about some youth
Tom Zbikowski, S, Ravens. Age: 26 Antonio Johnson, DT, Colts 26 Zach Miller, TE, Raiders. Age: 25 Le'Ron McClain, FB, Ravens. Age: 26 Michael Huff, S, Raiders? |
Quote:
Miller would be great, but I think we are better with Jimmy Graham and Thomas is resigned... We signed Korey Hall of GB today... Like the younger DT ideal; that would be nice... |
yeah i missed the signings of a few. i am still trying to wrap my mind around the numbers for another. maybe this will help :bang:
|
I am quite surprised at the seemingly lack of interest in Zach Millier, TE, Oakland. 6'5", 255, and 25 years old. Miller had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
Stats are quite consistent; Zach Miller - Oakland Raiders - NFL - Yahoo! Sports |

You can't gauge real talent on fantasy. AB was a kickass fantasy QB. Nuff said. Quote:

And some of these signings should help in the real world.. Saints have now re-signed Jermon Bushrod, Lance Moore, Scott Shanle, Roman Harper, Pierson Prioleau, Leigh Torrence, Chris Reis, Danny Clark, and Jo-Lonn Dunbar... Plus, they've added RB Darren Sproles, FB Korey Hall and OLB Will Herring to geaux with the early offseason signing of DT Shaun Rogers... The Saints have lost Remi Ayodele and Usama Young... |
Quote:
Saints have Jimmy Graham and will bring back Thomas, hopefully... |
Titants DT Tony Brown is to be released...
|
Quote:
I am not sure of the $$$ Miller is looking for, but given he is "good"...just surprised he hasn't attracted more attention. |
He was a Raider, that is enough of a reason to not want him on the team. I want nothing touched by Al Davis.
|
Quote:
Agree that he's one better TE, and was surprised teams with young QB's haven't gone after him... Maybe the Cardinals now that they have Kolb... Could the Eagles be finished? Will be interesting to see where he lands... |
Could the Saints be interested in Olin Kreutz?
Goodwin is not signed, yet; maybe their waiting to see how this plays out in Chi-town??? |
Madieum Williams, DB Cut by Vikings...
