Even when I play madden and I run into a fellow who dat I torch his ass because I know hes a bum In coverage. Remember when Drew was on the cusp of breaking an unattainable record that 3rd- 29 conversion Steve Smith caught on Roman Harper, remember that OT game in Chicago and just like all.game long Pass interference on Roman Harper cost the Season? All im saying is there are other SS's that tackle just as good.and.play well in coverage ie Donte Whitner, Dawan Landry, Brodney Pool, Quinten Mikel

Look you could argue that if the pass rush and the LB play was better that Harper would be exposed to miss matches called by Williams. Yes Harper is a little slow on top end but he gets to maximium speed very quickly too. He has the smarts and is a sure tackler. In any case, Harper isn't the problem with the defense. When you have a DL that can't put pressure on the QB or a LB corp that only has one playmaker, your SS will be left exposed. ALL PLAYERS GET BEAT. There are great players on the other side of the ball getting paid too. |

I don't have the desire or inclination to go back and document every game of the 09, and 10 seasons but Harper needs to be replaced. I rewatched all of the games from those two seasons and just can't understand where anyone feels that Harper is all that good. I can't count how many times Harper was in the hole in position to make the tackle and just wiffed! It's not even funny but if you go back those two seasons and really watch him play, he's definitely not that good and toward the end of last season, teams were beginning to exploit him and his lack of speed and it cost us a playoff game because we couldn't cover him up. We need to get better there plain and simple.

You can't place that 'Hawks playoff game travesty solely on Harpers shoulders.
The defense in its entirety was being abused... Their run game was so effective, G.W. had Harper in the box to stop it most of the game... |

Theres no way hes getting that outrageous contract Weddle got here in the bayou, you want a tackling machine Bernard Pollard is a a monster hes a better tackler then Harp + you can trust he wont get exposed all game in coverage. Yes every player gets beat SOMETIMES but in the passing game Harper gets beat MOST of the time. And I get Crazy Amped when he makes a play in the passing game further prooving how rare it is.

Lol I wish it were so Danno. He gets beat multipleX a game Plain and Simple SS is an Upgradeable position. We cant blame the games on Fred Thomas, We cant blame Games on Josh Bullock, Kevin Kaesvaharn, Jason David ,Tebucky Jones because every player gets beat sometimes? Those guys had productive seasons but got beat, why upgrade those but its blasphemos to upgrade Harper? And to be honest up until GW came to town his ass was looking like he was on the way out. I credit GW using Harper for what hes good for playing in the box..... But not really because every man should know how to play in the box lol
