Just giving you all some feedback on Sproles.
First off, 4 years for 14 mil... I think that's a great signing for you guys!
I saw all of his home games (so far). We ALL liked him from the very beginning in 2005. Unfortunately, he had that season ending injury in the preseason of 2006 that kept him beched for the entire season. After that, he returned with a vengeance! He was a demon on Special Teams and came in handy as a running back and receiver. I have some favorite moments of Sproles. Two in particular are in the 2007 playoffs in Indianapolis when a short pass lead to a touchdown. The other is the game winning run in the playoffs against the Colts. Though last season, he was terrible. I think we overpaid him. Too many fumbles for a guy that was making 6 million. To the point where he lost his starting position as kickoff/punt returner. I won't miss him at all this season. Anyway... I hope he can regain what he had with you guys and even more. Here's to a great season! |

Thanks Bolt,
His stats are better than reggies though. All RB have bad fumbling years glad to hear it was when he was on your team, lol all in all though if you look at reggie stats and durability vs sproles , Spoles is a definite upgrade and fumbles less, and your OL has not been near as good as ours since 2006. I think sproles will perform even better than when he was a charger, because he has better protection from the OL , better play calling for misdirection , and more weapons, so he will not be seen as the weapon he was in charger country, and will have LB's trying to cover him. Plus spoles is still young and has only 249 attempts to reggaes 524 attempt in the NFL, so he's hardly been used, my guess is they really didn't know how to use him, but we are brilliant at using scat backs in N.O. , he will fit nicely. but thanks for the insight. So you're saying Sproles had a one down year (last year) and you're already glad he's gone?
The guy averages 5.3yd per carry and almost 9yds per reception and you "Won't miss him"??? Speaking of 'overpaying' - he sure kicked Ryan Mathews butt. |

If you think Sproles had fumble problems then you would hate Reggie Bush.

We'll be way better off with Sproles than Bush.
career fumbles BUSH Sproles 19 13 And Sproles has one more year under his belt than Bush. The problem with Bush is that it is all mental! His mental lapses when carrying the ball is horrible. Watch tape and you see how he carries on PR especially. When crowd gets near him he has the ball away from his body when you are suppose to have it next to you. The way he dances allows for players to come from behind and knock the ball out with ease. If he is mentally out of the game we are done. We are so much better off with Sproles. |
Well he could be hitting the news next month, punt return against packs?
He will be a great special teams player...better then bush. |
Does Sproles like running out of bounds as much as Bush? It always seemed Bush liked those really long white lines. :)

Yes, last year was rough for Sproles. I had him on my fantasy team as a backup and his numbers were dismal. I'm hoping Sproles has a Jets/Tomlinson-like bounceback in him!

I'm not glad that he's gone but I won't miss him either. In the last couple of weeks they used Antoine Cason for kickoff returns and he did better. Now if they gave him a contract similar to the one you guys gave him, I might like that but he was not worth 6.5 million. All in all, I think it was a good signing for you guys. Last season was a disappointment but this could be a healthy change for him. As for Mathews... if he stays healthy, I have faith in him. |

Not me. Sure there was question regarding his shoulder injury at the time but I still didn't think his time was over. I'm not saying Sproles is done either. I think he was a good pick up for you guys. Sproles gave us some great moments but he just wasn't worth as much as we paid him. |

Hmmmmm. Never notice that, but you guys have watched him play more than I have. No, I can say that Sproles is good at staying in bounds on tight plays. |

For a non-Saints fan he is the least offensive that I have seen. :p |

I am looking for good things from Sproles.:bng: |
Sounds like it was time for a change for both us and the Bolts.
|
He doesn't mean any harm. Let's face it, Sproles really wasn't worth 6 million a season. I'm very curious how many touches we're even going to give him here. If Ingram takes off and PT is fully healthy... mix in some Ivory, where does that leave Sproles?
That said, I'm confident that in the touches he will receive, he's going to make of it than Bush did with his. |
Im excited about Sproles. Screen pass here we come!!
|
No matter. They didn't bring him here to carry the team. He might not even make it. We just needed someone to do some of the same things that Reggie did so we don't have to reprint the playbook.
|
Good things I see about this signing...
a.) Ever since that season ending injury in 2006, he's been healthy. b.) He's worked with Brees. c.) He'll be running routes similar to the ones he did here. Anybody know how much of that money is guaranteed? |
LOL yes we'd finally hopefully be able to work in a screen pass for a change geez!!!
I don't think we had a good one in like ever. |

Sproles has no issues either, stand up guy. Bush on the otherhand, lawsuits, returning awards, fake celebrity girlfriend, dumb tweet/comments. He was always dealing with some issue that he created.
|
Thanks for the info, Bolts.
Last time someone came here from another team and gave us the skinny on a player we aquired, it was Bills fans telling us about Jabari Greer. (they loved him) I think its a good sign. |

really? which stats? bush is number one in receptions and recieving yards among ALL running backs since he came into the league and second in recieving touchdowns. |

Three whole fumbles and a fan turns on a player?
Really? Three? I'd bet large sums of money you'd fumble every single time. If our coaching staff likes him, so do I. Geaux Sproles. |
Three fumbles in one year? Didn't Bush have a 3 fumble game or two?

I'm not sure we'll rely on Sproles running the ball all too often, as long as Ingram, Ivory, & P.T. can stay healthy
