Randy Moss retires... REALLY???
He's 34! And he is still a major threat... Should we go after him??? He wants to play for a contender, and we definatley fit that description...
|
Didn't he play for 3 different teams last year? No Thanks!
|
If its true, its probably because no one would give him big cheese - neither would we. + or - 1mil a year, I'd sign him.
|
Yes, 3 different teams.... Pats, vikes, and titans....... 1 out of 3 of those were actual contenders, and the Pats dropped him over a contract dispute. Didn't want to pay him after he blew it up year before. He deserved a new contract, and nothing he said was really that bad, but they traded him anyway. Talent, is talent. Shockey was a head case too, but worked out great for us. I say, if he wants one year, and wants a chance at a ring, then we can do that for him. It's worth a look anyway.
|
Moss is finished and no one wants to deal with his headache. Good for the NFL.
|
I completely dissagree Pinch. Moss is an "elite" receiver, and has been his whole career. At 34, he's NOT done. Is he a headcase? Yes. Is he a game changer? Yes. Don't believe me? You tube the 30 plus tds, he scored for the pats 2 years ago.
|
Still a threat... totally disagree.
Could he be a decent enough WR in the NFL still sure but the problem is with a deep threat WR who only ran the deep routes he never learned the step work and route running. That is his major problem now that he doesn't have the speed he once had. He had had time in NE getting open by just using his speed. Really good WR uses the steps and routes to their advantage to get open. Eddie Royal is pretty good speed wise but he is a perfectionist when it comes to the routes. |
Contract argument doesn't hold water because if he was their number 1 guy and catching all those passes and TD's like he was Oh they will find the money believe me.
He became expendable because he was a shadow of himself at the very best. |
I'm with you SaintaPaul, on the cheap he's worth it. Not even trying to make him #1, just another option on the way to another ring.
|
I don't care how cheap... he has dirty laundry. Do you know how much it costs to do laundry these days. Our lockeroom is outstanding and lets not bring a head case into it, we just got rid of one head case Bush. We are plenty set at WR. We can use the money and roster spot on other positions.
Besides here is the issue about cheap enough. He is retiring because no one wants to PAY HIM. So what does that tell ya??? |
randy moss is a cancer. keep him away from the saints! we dont need guys like him on our team.
he doesnt fit in our system. we spread the ball around too much for that guy. we won the super bowl w/ guys who are class acts, not a bunch of a-holes. keep him away from my saints. please. |
Yeah Euph, but WHO was trying to get him? That's the question. He wants to play for a contender, and if memory serves me, he was an integral part of the Pats run to the superbowl, his first year there. Rice played til he was in his 40s, and once the speed slowed, he used his abilities to still be a major factor. Sean Payton, in my opinion, is a master motivator. Moss is still accounted for, by any defense he plays against. Is he what he used to be? No. Not saying that. I'm saying, if we could sign him for a one year deal, and give him a chance at that championship that has alluded him all these years, I would be all for it. Just saying.
|
I guess I'm the only one who remembers the Seattle game. Look at his 3rd down percentages. You guys aren't understanding what I'm saying here, at MINIMUM its worth a look. That's all.
|
"Moss for one year", which WR do we cut? Sorry I'll take out top 4 to 5 WR's that we have on this team right now before I'd take one year of Moss.
Moss can go to another contender if they'd have him but he isn't going to be on my contender. Moss is done. He had it during that SB run of theirs but when your speed goes it goes FAST. He is done get over it people. |
He takes off plays, he doesn't go across the middle, he's never been a good blocking wide out and oh and he's 34. No I don't want him.
|
Randy plays when he wants to play. Do you really want to see what he's like when he doesn't want to play?
Maybe he can play exhibition basketball with the locked out NBA players in Europe. |
One trick pony. At this point he can only run the 9 route. No thanks.
|
I think he is just done with football. He is set for life, he saved his money. If he was willing to come in for a year 1 mill contract. Sure I would kick the boots. But it does not matter, I don't think he will pull a Farve.
|
I guess we are all going to have to agree to disagree on this.... That's cool.
|
I vote NO THANKS
|
Randy Moss is actually Snoop Dog. He's not 'retiring'. He's just going back to the "OC" to kick it with his homies, some tanqueray, and some indo...
|
I'm happy with our receivers......there's a couple who could pick it up a notch but we have a good group. No thanks.
|
Pass, he's the opposite of a Payton player.
Wouldn't want him on this team if he was free. |
Hell no. If you think Reggie Bush was unrealized potential, (I dont) you'd really love Randy Moss.
Part of what makes us successful is our drama-free locker room. The whole reason he's retiring is because he's a quitter and a crybaby. The minute he doesnt get his way, or the ball, he quits. Ask John Tice. He has no concept of team, and he's a thug. I say "no" on sheer principle. He's not Saint material. |
Puff Puff Give

Hmmm... Devery or Randy, Devery or Randy...
I'm just kidding, I don't even have to think about that one. I'm not sure who this Deverson guy is you are talking about, but tell me more about Randy Moss... |
I couldn't care less if he retires, where he signs, if he signs. As long as its not with us. Moss is all over his rolling stone now.
|
Randy who?
|
Greatness wasted. When he wanted to play he was flat out one of the best ever. To many ups and downs in his career.
|
I still snap awake some nights visualizing how Moss crushed the Saints. His problem was always that he needed a qb who could make that long throw. I'm not sure Brady still could last season, the Vikes couldn't throw themselves on the ground, and the Titans were in such disarray that no one even noticed Moss was on the team.
I bet if properly situated, Moss could have 2 extremely productive seasons. He's still one of the fastest, tallest WR's. You can't play cover 2, and you absolutely must blitz to keep this guy contained. He's more problematic than Bush ever was. I'm not advocating, I'm just saying. Moss still has Jerry Rice taunting him in his sleep. My bet is that he could be compliant. Throw 2 outs and 4 deep balls to him and he'd be happy. If he were to be signed by the Saints, I think we could lose Arrington. No one really fears Devery, though they should. Because we can't protect Brees long enough to make a 30 yard throw, there's no incentive to keep a safety deep enough to matter, much less two. Arrington, while he may have upside, has one meaningless game under his belt in 2 years. I feel that we need an upgrade in WR. Moss may not be the answer, but we need more speed and more height to make a serious SB run. |
I believe our offense is fairly stout. Marshawn Lynch would call Gregg W. to remind him of our necessary options for defensive improvements.
|
y'all cant possibly rather have devery henderson runnin those 9 routes then randy moss.. y'all gotta be the ones smokin... i'd sign moss on a two year deal...everybody else loading up, colston had how many knee injuries... lets be real here, brees could keep moss happy.. the ball gets spread around too much not be happy in this offense, and you would think new orleans would fit moss country ways

If only it sticks AND if only Favre stays out too!!
|
I am having a hard time remembering exactly which player, that Moss threw under the bus, and for which team? I have seen him take plays off, yes, but I don't remember him pulling an Ocho, or a Owens, at any point in his career. Anyone wanna refresh my memory on this? In fact, other than his talk about a new contract, with new england last year, he's been pretty quiet the last few years.

Really I would rather not have Moss. I agree he might have something in the tank, but he is a nutcase and a baby at times. Plus we are good at WR. |
We dont need no Randy Moss.
We have Lance Moore. |
Lance Moore can actually run routes in stead of just run deep.

plus he makes the clutch catch for first down, when your QB only has 1.5 sec to release. We already have Devery for the home-run plays. |
