Sedrick Ellis to be traded?
Know with a rookie contract with two years left and Sedrick Ellis' lack of conditioning in the past season, have to wonder if the Saints aren't getting ready to trade him if (pardon) he doesn't shape up and perform as to his draft status...
Aubrayo signed, Rogers signed, it gets interesting... Ellis is due ~1.66 mil this year and ~2.22 mil next he has an attractive contract to would-be trade suitors... |

That really was my first thought. Anyways... you do realize both Franklin and Rogers are signed to one year contracts? Ellis will soon be entering his prime and is a very good football player. |

I get the experience/prime thing; but has he performed at a level expected when he was drafted/signed? |

You're right about contract situation of vets, but next year is next year... |

the title of this thread first scared me then when i opened it it pissed me off lol. If he is out of shape give the big fella some time to just get back into shape. You dont just trade someone because they come into training camp a little out of shape after sitting through a lockout. Especially when that player is a valuable asset to your defensive line
I dunno about bein out of shape, but to quote John Gruden "Sedrick Ellis is the real deal!"
It's not uncommon... that a 300 plus pound defensive tackle comes into camp a little out of shape. Quite frankly, it happens a lot.
God I hope not! He will kick some ass this year, he shouldn't be getting double covered as much with our other big boys in the game.
I don't seea trade in his immediate future. Both the big boys are signed to one year contracts and are 30 or older. I don't know how much they have to give or for how long. They should be good for a couple of years(maybe 3) and Ellis is just beginning to blossom. I'll bet he stays.
Big Sed ain't gowin nowhere. This thread should take a journey though. LOL
lmao it sure did make people post. trade? nah we upgraded NT not DT.

I just can't see him get traded. He is too important for our defence. I think this year will be his real breakout year.
Let's not get besides ourselves. Big Sed is going nowhere. We are signing alot of D Linemen but they are rotational guys. I dont think they are enough for us to trade Sed...

No offense jp, but that would be the stupidest move of the offseason.
can i dislike this thread anyway?
Attractive contract means we keep him as a back up until we can no longer carry him. And hope for the best that he steps up.
He is going to be with them for a long time. He led the team in sacks last year.
Ellis is a good player. He's not a great player. But, he's still young, he's good enough, and his salary isn't too high for his production so far. There's no way they trade him unless there's something very broken behind the scenes.

The question is does he have the motor to warrant the move the Saints made to get him or does he drift along at the level of play he's given to now... The Rogers and Franklin signings are upgrades, but not that much as Ayodele and Hargrove were solid contributors... |
He ain't going anywhere.
Forever, who's your new girlfriend?

Welcome aboard Jay.

If he is moved, he would be another one of those perfect examples of former Saints players that hit their stride as soon as they are gone. He is, right now, perfectly positioned to break out and I think we ought to let him do it right here. |

I am NOT saying we should trade him. BUT there is no reason that ANY of these guys should show up out of shape. |
