Sedrick Ellis to be traded?
Know with a rookie contract with two years left and Sedrick Ellis' lack of conditioning in the past season, have to wonder if the Saints aren't getting ready to trade him if (pardon) he doesn't shape up and perform as to his draft status...
Aubrayo signed, Rogers signed, it gets interesting... Ellis is due ~1.66 mil this year and ~2.22 mil next he has an attractive contract to would-be trade suitors... |

That really was my first thought. Anyways... you do realize both Franklin and Rogers are signed to one year contracts? Ellis will soon be entering his prime and is a very good football player. |

I get the experience/prime thing; but has he performed at a level expected when he was drafted/signed? |

the title of this thread first scared me then when i opened it it pissed me off lol. If he is out of shape give the big fella some time to just get back into shape. You dont just trade someone because they come into training camp a little out of shape after sitting through a lockout. Especially when that player is a valuable asset to your defensive line

It's not uncommon... that a 300 plus pound defensive tackle comes into camp a little out of shape. Quite frankly, it happens a lot.

God I hope not! He will kick some ass this year, he shouldn't be getting double covered as much with our other big boys in the game.

I don't seea trade in his immediate future. Both the big boys are signed to one year contracts and are 30 or older. I don't know how much they have to give or for how long. They should be good for a couple of years(maybe 3) and Ellis is just beginning to blossom. I'll bet he stays.
