I really hope that the cap floor won't be implemented in the same manner as for example in the NHL. Whereas the rich teams from the big market areas have no problems reaching the cap limit, but small market areas have to do anything and everything they can to reach the required cap floor - including way overpaying players (which screws up the whole FA market), and trading for useless big contract players to be buried in the minors just to reach the cap floor. And what makes it even worse is that the cap goes up at least 5% annually to accommodate for the inflation and making it even harder for the small market area teams to survive.
While NO, as a small market area, isn't likely to face problems of this sort - there's always a limit to what a certain market area can sustain and most of the time the first thing to reflect rising cap floors are the ticket prices, which in turn hurts the fans. Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a rant like that... |
