Hey, nothing personal...I've spent the summer in San Antonio (and a few places west) and they have a traffic reporter on the local NPR station that is very different than we have in Houston.

Hey guys (and gals). Just moved to Houston two weeks ago from The Big Sleazy after 16 years there and my entire life in Louisiana! The withdrawals have started to subside.

I noticed that a generator is needed for the tailgate and I happen to have one. Haven't used it in a while (since Gustav) but I'm sure it can be brought back to life if needed. I wasn't planning on going to the Saints-Texans game (pre-season and all) but after reading this thread I think I will.

Also, I'm assuming tonight's pre-season game is not televised. Please let me know if I am wrong and where it's on.

Thanks and let me know if the generator is still needed.

Everybody Else: We've concluded its too hot to cook, so most of us are just bringing Popeyes. But bring whatever you want to share. Even chips/dips are helpful. Wouldnt mind a dessert. We could use a variety of beer or soda-- there will likely be kids.

We need coolers & ICE.

Still need a couple box fans & Saints fold out tent. If no one has a Saints tent, I'll get some from my station. I just prefer not to have my station logo, in case I have to fight hostile fans- I dont want to be identified with my work.

I spoke to SkyMike tonight and he will be away from his computer until Monday. He asked me to pass along that we will have more details about OPERATION POPEYE late Monday night. We will have to move the meeting place to another location because of traffic flow around Reliant on game days.
Most likely it will be south of 610 near the old AstroWorld/Six Flags site.

Watch this site to get further information.

I have done this before, and we met in a parking lot of a Sam's or a Walmart where there's not a lot of traffic on a game day. I didn't think that the location proposed would work since it sounded like we were meeting on a street in traffic. It needs to be in a parking lot where we can wait for everyone to get there. Does anyone know if there is a Sam's near the stadium?
