Saints Practice Report: Ingram, Sproles shine in full-padded session
Observations
The Saints haven’t had a running back group like the one the team will field this season. Watching the Saints’ first full-padded practice of the season, one thing was evident – this is a tough, physical, hard-running group. Pierre Thomas ran with his usual bit of physicality. That wasn’t surprising. It was what rookie Mark Ingram was doing and newcomer Darren Sproles did that stood out. Not to do the whole thunder and lightning thing – because let’s be honest, that has been overdone – but Ingram was the power to Sproles’ quickness. Or was it Ingram was the quickness to Sproles’ power. Indeed, both ran with speed and authority on Thursday. Ingram was bursting through holes and, at one point, did his best to run over free safety Malcolm Jenkins. Sproles ran hard, putting his head down between the tackles, but also turned the corner and got up the field like we haven’t seen in New Orleans. Full article below.
