this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Is it a "done" deal that Will Smith is out for 4 weeks?...

Wow.... I've been gone a while I guess, as I must have missed the "Canton meltdown".... Practice, and real game situations are completely different. Let's see what he looks like in some pre-season games. I believe in the coaches evaluation, when it all comes down. If GW, and SP, say that he is the starter, then the is the man for the job.

I like Galette as much as the next guy and he does have the speed and quickness to be a situational pass rusher. Word is he had a rough time with the playbook last year as expected coming from a small school. We'll see this preseason what he's got since he has a better grasp of things this year.
I think he is a bit overhyped though. Hype is fine but with Galette it goes a bit overboard. Realistically he's be our 5th DE behind Smith, Jordan, Brown, and McBride and then there's Charleston. Also, early on in camp we had a undrafted FA starting at LT. We'll see how it goes in preseason and be the judge from there, but I do recall him blocking a punt last year in preseason and I don't care what group it was against but that was pretty impressive in itself. You dont see many DE's block punts on any level. |

Its like beating a dead horse, is he good, no he's not. On and on, crap.
He's an underdog, that's why we are pulling for him. So yes we want to see him make it big. |

Look, I hope this kid does well and gives us a dynamic rusher for years to come. But come on baby, we're talking about practice. Rudy was one helluva player in practice, embarrassed people in fact, but doesn't mean he could pwn people in the game (although he did get that sack!).
