More than a week into New Orleans Saints training camp, it's worth pointing out one thing we haven't been seeing - any signs of post-lockout sloppiness.
In fact, I honestly hadn't thought about the idea of the "lockout hangover" until colleague Mike Preston from the Baltimore Sun checked in with me to ask how the Saints are looking, compared to the Baltimore Ravens, who have been off to a sloppy start. According to Preston s research the Ravens aren't the only ones By all accounts from players, coaches and media observers, these Saints training camp practices don't look much different than any other year. They aren't as far along in their playbook installation. But we've seen no more signs of sloppiness or sluggishness than we've seen in any non-lockout year. "Look, if all of us came out here and watched a practice, it would be hard for us to tell if it was following a lockout or wasn't following a lockout," Saints Coach Sean Payton said. With veterans like Vilma & Brees, running "training camp" instead of just workouts during the lockout; what did they expect?
Our team is ahead of the rest of the league at this point..! |

Brees has always been a coach to the players around him.
He just happens to be a damn good QB as well. |
