Saints cut Danny Clark
New Orleans Saints waive LB Danny Clark | NOLA.com
The Saints have waived linebacker Danny Clark and signed tackle Jordan Black to take his spot on the 90-man roster, the club confirmed Wednesday. Clark, a 12-year veteran from Illinois, had 59 tackles for the Saints in 2010. Although Clark has spent considerable time during training camp this fall running with the first unit, he appears to have fallen victim to a crowded positional field. The Saints drafted two linebackers last April, and the coaching staff is clearly pleased with the addition of Will Herring. Herring, 6-feet-3, 241, is a 5-year veteran out of Auburn who came to the Saints through free agency via Seattle. He has also found himself spending time with the first unit and is deeply involved already in New Orleans' nickel packages. Clark's departure underlines the competition at outside linebacker that is occuring in training camp this fall. Indeed, the only sure-fire starter in the unit is middle linebacker and defensive captain Jonathan Vilma. Black, meanwhile, is an NFL veteran who has bounced among three different teams since being drafted by Kansas City out of Notre Dame in 2003. He was released by Jacksonville in February after starting 9 games last season. He has largely occupied a backup role with the Jaguars since that club acquired him in Dec. 2008. The Saints no doubt hoped to bolster their offensive line heading in to the preseason opener Friday night against San Francisco. Veteran Jon Stinchcomb, a starter on the right side, was held out of practice Tuesday to rest a sore knee, and Charles Brown, whom the Saints drafted out of USC in the second round of the 2010 draft, missed the first few days of training camp while rehabbing. |

Most likely released Clark now in order for him to catch on with another team.

And I think Rex Grossman is better than Matt Moore. I kind of feel like this big OLB competition is a "Best of the Worst" competition.
I think our two best are probably Casillas and Martez Wilson, but one is injured 90% of the time and the other is a rookie, so I dunno what we will do about that. Hopefully they will be just solid enough not to be totally exploitable. |
