Olin Kreutz

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I am excited for the season, so I keep posting. This is my fairness post. In all fairness Strief was getting beat by the same guy. On the chase Daniel run, he was flushed by poor blocking from strief....

I am worried about the line as whole or lack thereof for the RBs...i dont know about everyone else...but i re-watched the game last night and there was no running room for the RBs...i kinda think our 0- line is overrated a tad bit..the First sting offense was out of sync bad..I hope that gets better soon and doesnt carry over from last season..The D looked fine and ready to take out the seattle loss on teams this year...

Exactly what I saw too. The SF D-line won their LOS battle, and it wasn't close.

we will definitely know after this next pre-season game. Hopefully Sean and the O-line coach, get it under control.

I am curious, do you think our O-line might have been sold out by Goody? I mean, he probably could have told them how to get around each of the blocking schemes and how to recognize them, which made their line look a lot better than they actually are.

It's possible but offensive lineman still have to have good technique. There is only so much Goody could have told them that would help. Not enough to completely shut us down like they did. Our first unit better get their **** straight.

I've been saying our O-Line is overrated since Aaron Brooks was running for his life because of it. Nothing has changed IMO, and Drew makes up for a lot of it. Oh how I long for a line similar to the one the Cowboys won all those Championships behind in the 90s.

I don't know if I would want to exchange the guards the Saints have at the moment for anyone else in the league - Nicks needs to get a long term contract.
The main weakness remains at the tackle position, but I would evaluate even those spots to be better than average compared to the rest of the league.
It's hard to say anything about the center position yet, but I have to say that I was very impressed with Korey Hall's blocking even though the sample was very limited - he'll definitely be an upgrade in that regard to Evans.

Bringing up Brooks and Brees in the same sentence is unfair to both of them, but for very different reasons.

It's really too early and I don't have film to study so I'm really listening to what ya'll are saying.
From an overall view point the Oline stunk. No open holes and not enough time for the QB.(mostly) In '09 Bushrod had plenty of help and now it seems that he isn't getting much help. That's one wink link........the other one is that Stinchcomb has gone down hill fast since '09. I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in a lot more players to compete at RT. Maybe a trade in the future.

As I stated in my post, he got beat to the inside. How do I know this? I watched him from beginning to end. I think the fact that Strief is competing for the starting role says alot about how the coaches feel.
Strief looked like s&*t against second and third string guys and he wants to start.
