First-team All-Big Ten pick in each of the past two seasons at defensive tackle, King's pro future could be at defensive end or linebacker -- the position he played in high school. The epitome of consistency and durability, King was a four-year starter and averaged 57 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks per season. A classic overachiever, King's relative lack of size belies his strength and refined technique at the point of attack. King will be considered a "tweener" by many due to his size, but his instincts, technique and passion for the game make him more than the sum of his parts.

If he can play DE & LB, I see him getting some playing time...

Ashley 08-14-2011 01:13 PM

Damn, that's a great clip on him. I hope he can pull off that with us this year. He's my long short for the team. the dude never stops, G. W. got to love that

TheDeuce 08-14-2011 01:30 PM

Really impressed with this guy against SF. Great motor, good pass rush skills, awful arm tattoos.

Rugby Saint II 08-14-2011 01:38 PM

He's built like a fire plug. I couldn't help but laugh.

Pete 08-14-2011 01:42 PM

I'm pulling for him!Mama's boy is relentless!!!!!

FinSaint 08-14-2011 02:11 PM

He definitely looked good against SF, but it was mostly against 3rd string guys. I'm looking forward to seeing him play again against the Texans, and I remain optimistic.

Great video compilation and info... didn't know he also played LB. DE could be a good spot for him in the future, since, at least at present, he seems too "small" to go against starting O-Lines - which he might end up having to do in a backup DT role.

That is funny. I posted on Saturday in the observation thread...

"King stood out to me on the D line. Seems like he had a good motor all night. Again, against the niners backups."

He had a decent showing. For some reason I don't see him being much of an impact player or even making the team for that matter.

Maybe so but he will be on the pratice squad. Somebody will snatch him up before the season is over. He's going to learn a great deal from playing with the Saints and learning from Greg Williams. ;)

Dude is built like a TANK! Mama's Boy! I love it!!!!!!!!! : D

Ashley 08-14-2011 03:28 PM

I bet if he got he's shot with the first string he could pull off something. The guys around him just alone will make him better.
I'm not saying he is a first string guy yet, but with our new line and fast lb's.... Ya can't stop them all

xan 08-14-2011 03:46 PM

Practice squad

homerj07 08-14-2011 03:48 PM

Thats the type of guy we need on the team. Hi motor - GWs kindof guy. I think he has a role on ST & as a reserve

In a perfect world this guy would probably be someone, who the coaching staff might want to keep around and see how he develops. But with the unprecedented depth that the Saints now have at DT... it's very difficult to see him make the team. If Tom Johnson didn't injure himself in the SF game - since he hobbled of the field - I think he'll end up being the 4th DT on the roster.

Like foreverfan stated, he'll probably make the practice squad from where he might be picked up by some other team with not as much depth at DT. The other DT Swanson Miller didn't look too bad either... and physically I bet he is more closer to what GW is looking for in a DT.

SmashMouth 08-14-2011 04:09 PM

Interesting ... he was with the Colts last year .... he kinda looks one of the Matthews brothers.

True on all the above, but he's my long shot. That's why I'm going to pull for him.

Same reason I've been hyping up Tom Johnson. ;-)

jcp026 08-14-2011 06:13 PM

I thought he'd be a nobody, and maybe he will, but he's growing on me and I'm starting to root for him.

QBREES9 08-14-2011 08:18 PM

I really like the Hair. If he plays like that other guy with the hair. He's a steal.

saintsfan1976 08-14-2011 08:20 PM

Tenacious.

He shoulda had that tattoo'ed on his arms.

Like him. Pulling for him to make the team.

Yeah, I miss Turley too. ; ) Ha ha ha.

Danno 08-15-2011 07:58 AM

He reminds me of Brian Young. Non-stop motor, ultimate over-achiever.

He'll probably get caught in a numbers game since we'll probably only keep 4 DTs. Ellis, Franklin, Rogers and Johnson.

BTW, did ya'll notice Tom Johnson's sideline to sideline speed? Impressive.
