He was likely not going to get much in a trade. Best to let him hook up with another team on his own. The absolute professional way to handle him. Very disrespectful to let him hang until final cut, when all others' teams rosters are set.

Front office is exhibiting highly unusual standards of ethics.

Never mind JD, how about Aaron Brooks.

On a related note... anyone want to buy a #2 jersey cheap?

I almost said Aaron Brooks, but I know people who, to this day, contend that he was torpedoed by bad coaching and that he could have been better than Vick if we had a better staff back in his first 2 or 3 years.

Some have even said "Imagine what Aaron Brooks could have done in Paytons offense"

Been benched and then released so we could sign Drew Brees?

I imagine it as clearly as though it actually happened!

I think he retires. They could have gotten something for him for a trade, but I think he would rather retire than play somewhere else.

Ha ha ha. I thought of Aaron IMMEDIATELY!

The "once a Saint/always" thing only works with Saints you liked.

Now MARINES on the other hand... Semper fi!

After reading these comments, he should have several teams looking to sign him.
