Saints bring in Cobbs, RB/KR for a look see
Saints signed RB/KR Patrick Cobbs, formerly of the Dolphins.
Cobbs was a long-time favorite of Fins coach Tony Sparano. He must have been something to behold in practices because he rarely had a game-day impact in Miami. Cobbs is a roster longshot in a deep Saints backfield. Related: Dolphins Source: Mike Berardino on Twitter |
WTF?

The ONLY explanations I can think of (other than "Why not?") Is that Joe Morgan impressed as a WR enough that they are considering picking up a dedicated KR/PR to avoid injuries. Either that or they don't want Joe to get complacent because of his big play, and brought in a vet to compete with him.

They just want to see what else is out there and you can't blame them. Except for Ingram, all our starting RB's have been down for the count at some point. Why not look at them in advance. If somebody goes down you have the list narrowed down somewhat.

He's good on special teams, and Ivory will likely be placed on IR, Bell is out 2 to 3 weeks, and they don't want to overwork PT, Ingram and Sproles.
They probably don't wanna force Chris Taylor to run the ball 30 times per game the next three weeks. Gotta have someone to run the ball for the last 3 quarters for the next 3 weeks. |
Special teams players are not as valuable as they once were. All the Saints kickoffs should be touchbacks. For the teams that manage to score on the Saints, most will have a kicker capable of kicking it deep into the end zone. I had rather have a guy like Sharper who can play safety at atleast an above average level on the team rather than a guy like Reis who nobody wants to see in the starting lineup.

Sproles has been very healthy especially considering his size. Quote:
Why not get Hamilton back or has he already signed somewhere else? I mean he deserves the chance, doesn't he? |
