At this point in this Payton-Brees era of Saintdom, one of the team's major strengths just from game to game during the regular season is the respect and fear that Drew gets from NFL defenses. Every receiver must be accounted for by defensive backs, Drew will exercise his options with his backfield and he can run for whatever he must get.
Would I see the same with Chase? If defenses don't see a #9 jersey behind center (  don't let that happen) they will tee off. I feel good about Chase as a backup, but 'serviceable' won't cut it in an extremely competitive NFC Conference (sans West).

He had a decent game aginst the Texans, not great but certainly not awful either. The pass for Morgan was a beauty.
