From what I saw of him the two times I went to camp, he's a
good backup. He's proficient, and is showing increasingly
Brees-y footwork. I think he's the perfect understudy, and with
his dedication and enthusiasm, is everything Brees/The Saints
could ask for in an understudy. Sean Canfield, on the other
hand. Jesus. That poor child. Maybe he'll come around.

Daniel looks "ok' to me, but he leaves a lot to be desired. If Brees goes down the season is done, we have to accept that.
The info. I'm "privy" to was watching him the two times I saw him
(first day of camp, last day of (public/NOLA) camp, make mistake
after mistake and he looks extremely underweight and in need
of some soup and more weightlifting to me. "Big arm"? I didn't
see it. Maybe he didn't bring it with him the days I saw him.

Now that's funny right there.

Brees didn't start out great in San Diego. That's why they drafted Rivers. It took Drew a few years to get to the level he is at now.
Give Daniels another year working with Drew and he will be able to step right on in there without skipping a beat.

I agree, what I've seen out of Chase so far is better than I have seen of half of the guys starting on some other teams.

Actually, Brees did start out pretty great. He didn't start his first year, and with the exception of one injury shortened season he had 3000+ yards and 60%+ completions year in and year out. It did take Drew a few years to get to the level he is at now, but you don't just start out as one of the best of the best anyway. There was nothing shoddy about Brees in SD.

They drafted Rivers because their GM has a big head and wanted a guy he drafted under center. That is also why they kept Rivers over Brees. Schottenheimer wanted to keep Brees over Rivers and was so adamant about it he was fired. Obviously that worked out well for them.

No, I sure as hell don't have to accept that. You can tell I don't have to accept that by the fact that I don't accept that.

Kind of harsh to bash the kid like that after watching him "2 days" don't you think?
No, no, no. "2 days" doesn't go into quotes because it is a reference to 2 days. There is no alternative meaning, so the quotes are useless. Why is it bashing him if it was true? If he was making bad decisions all day, WHY is it bashing to say he was making bad decisions all day? I don't get it. You made judgements off of seeing one preseason game on TV, but someone else who has seen more of this guy playing can't comment on what they saw because it was only two days worth of practices? That is silly. And, since you have only seen him for "1 preseason game" (That doesn't go in quotes either, I'm just mocking you) by your own qualifications for commentary all you should be allowed to say about him is his name, number, and position.

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." -- Douglas Adams.

If not Chase, then who?

I guess the important factor to consider is the offensive scheme and the personnel.

I think he will be somebody elses future. I stated this earlier in some other thread that I think he will be traded for a couple of picks to get the chance to start for som QB needy team ala Matt Schaub.

I think he looked good against the 49ers and hope he can continue that during the pre season to up his stock some more.
