After the Saints humiliated the San Francisco 49ers last Friday night in New Orleans, the tables were turned on them by the Texans in Houston this weekend. It was almost as if they were a completely different team defensively from week one to week two of the preseason. They seemingly transformed from a team of total domination defensively to one where the defense couldn’t seem to stop anything from happening to help the opposing offense, from a starting defense that shut out the starting offense of the 49ers to one which allowed 17 quick points to that of the Texans.

Houston Texans starting RB Arian Foster ran the ball 5 times for 47 yards and 2 TD’s and last year’s second round pick RB Ben Tate carried the rock 9 times for a whopping 95 yards and a TD, while starting WR Andre Johnson caught 4 passes for 100 yards on the day against the New Orleans Saints defense. Those are averages of 9.4 yards a carry for Foster, 10.5 per tote by Tate and a nice round 25 yards per catch for Johnson.

It’s not like there were no positives at all to be taken away from the Saints’ preseason week 2 trip through the overheated heart of Texas on their way to pleasantly sunny California for the week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders, because there were a few. There certainly weren’t many, but there were some.
