My observations from the game...
Just watched the replay, so I'm a little late to the discussion, but here are my observations:
- I love Drew Brees, but he has been developing a scary trend of making mental mistakes over the last season plus. Drew from 2009 seemed to never make those kinds of errors in decision-making, but now I am expecting at least one punch in the nuts a game from him. The fumble on first and goal should have never happened, and the fact that an elite QB like Drew didn't have the wherewithal to throw it through the back of the endzone or even just eat it, scares me. He got away with another one on a screen pass the was nearly picked off. I know he's a top 5 QB in this league, but his 22 INTs last year (plus several fumbles) really killed us. He needs to stop trying to do so much by himself, he's got plenty of help around him. - Paul Oliver is TERRIBLE. Absolutely awful. I probably shouldn't judge him just based on one game, but if that's all he's got, we better pray Harper and Jenkins can stay healthy all season. - Run defense was pathetic, I was embarrassed watching that performance. I heard about Shaun Rogers disappearing in games before he came to NOLA... and now I know what they're talking about. No way somebody as big and athletic as he is should be neutralized like that (and Houston's offensive line is not even considered a good OL). Sedrick Ellis got blown up several times that I noticed, so the blame needs to be spread around. - I enjoy Casillas' intensity, but the guy needs to play under more control. His late hit was a killer, gotta be smarter than that. - I can't wait for a full season of Mark Ingram. I thought PT23 looked good as well. - Chase Daniels might be the best backup in the league right now... that's a complete 180 from the way I felt about him a year ago. - Thank you Mickey Loomis for bringing Lance Moore back, that guy always seems to be open. And great find with that Morgan kid... he's really impressive. Can anybody say buh-bye Adrian Arrington? |

But regarding Houston's offensive line - gotta disagree as they had the leading rusher last season and a decent passing game even with AJ triple-teamed... |

I thought the run blocking the first team OL did was great compared to a week ago. That was a step in the right direction. I'm not sold on Sproles yet but I hope he can grow on me.
I'm waiting to see something from Cameron "Mr Invisible" Jordan. Same thing goes for Galette. |

If he was not a solid player their stats would have shown it while he was on the field and he would have not been on the field loing.
