You might not agree with me and i want to know your views because this is mine;
When the Players were doing two a day practices they were getting twice the reps, twice the time to get fundamentals down and let the team gel with new arrivals Since two a days have been taken away we have seen; Sloppy O line Play Receivers that have cucumbers for hands Missed Tackles I think that this is due to the fact they are only practicing once, in prior years they did two a days every day and we were the number 1 offense in the league 4 out of 5 years, coincidence? maybe.... what are your thoughts? |

I think that the OTA's and the lack of consistent communication by the coaches to the players over the lockout have more to do with the sloppiness than the reduced practice time over the last three weeks. My impression is that when our players have mis-performed, it is due to a lack of confidence about what they are supposed to be doing; they are thinking things through instead of the actions being second nature. That kind of indecision comes from minimal long term reinforcement.

Fewer practices do affect teams that employ complicated offenses and require extra practice for timing. We certainly fall into that category.
As far as WR's, I can only remember 2 drops. Meachem and Morgan, with one each. |

OTA's
That is where team gels... WR and QB's running routes and passing getting their timing down. Payton Manning even made comment about it last year how important OTA's are because you end up throwing to guys that you don't have a chance to other wise and when everyone starts getting hurt and you call those guys up... he at least know the guy. |

Of course all this will play a big part, lesser reps because of only one a days and an expanded roster which leads to even fewer reps for the guys. ...

I think human error, cobwebs and the fact that the NFL is pretty damn competitive has a bit to do with it.
It is like rolling dice, STILL, regardless of how much you prepare. A game of inches can go either way, at any given time... on the turn of a dime. Every week. imho that is what makes them so much fun to watch... and the amazing ability and skill set around the league. |
