After the Texans game, I'm warming up to Shaper returning.
Not sure he has anything left in the tank, I'll leave that up to the coaches. |
He reads this board
|
Sharper said his agent, Joel Segal, is expected to talk with Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis once the team returns from Oakland following Sunday night’s nationally-televised exhibition game against the Raiders.
Asked if Segal has talked recently with Saints officials, Sharper replied: “Yes sir. Something’s on the horizon once they return from California. My agent told me those exact words. And I said, ‘I’m ready.’ ‘’ Darren Sharper says return to Saints may be "on the horizon" |
At this point I'd welcome him with open arms
|
I will buy a Sharper Saints' Jersey if he returns, even if it is only to mentor. He adds a tremendous level of insight. If he is in shape, I believe he adds to the D. Gives MJ the option of CB.
|
Hellz yeah!!
|
Does anyone else wonder, with safeties being highly desired in today's NFL, why no other team has tried to sign him?

He says Who Dat gonna pay me ...and they hang up....Saint forever...lol |

So your saying he's not even entertaining any offers from any other teams because he only wants to play for the Saints, who have shown little interest so far? |
Looks like it

He wants to be here...wouldn't you?

There's probably a reason the Pats passed on him, and I doubt it was because he was shouting who-dat in Belichik's face (although I'd pay good money to see that). |

Maybe he shouted TWO DAT!..at Brady...lol:roll: |

Dam edit ghost...did it get changed?

Looks the same in my quote...

No problem dude. |
LOL..
and you thought i was drunk...better check dat one |
Woot!!! I hope they sign him back!
|
Sign him back or don't sign him back... Either way it's time to embrace Jenkins as our new FS and I seriously doubt how important it is to have a "mentor" at the position when GW is your freaking boss. Sharper's done... If not this year then next year. Why delay Jenkins' development as the inevitable starter in favor of letting Sharper take over?!

One word..Depth |
That's a good point Strato. I may have spoken too soon! I just remembered that without Sharper... Paul Oliver is the back-up FS and that terrifies me lol.
|
Yeah, it's all about Depth. Brett Favre squeezed one more good year out of him after kinda falling off, maybe Sharper can do the same if NEEDED to do so. If we can pay him, and still pay our important guys, there is no reason not to.
He's been loyal enough to us to deserve a second ring if that's where our uck takes us this year. Injuries are rampant again. |
Bring him back. Harper Sharper one more year.
|
He'll be 36 in November. Who does he think he is, Darrell Green?
He'll actually have more grey hair than Harper.:bng: |
I'll take a "Sharper Harper!"
|
I like this move. Keep him here, and keep that secondary going. More weapons help, not hurt.....
|
In baseball they use to have "player-coaches".
I think he would be fantastic in that type of a role. Bring him in for obvious passing downs or as a blitzer!! |
I would love to see him sign, no question!
|
Sharper 2009 version - Its a no brainer, sign him immediately if not sooner.
Sharper 2010 version - No thanks. Somewhere in the middle? - Probably so, couldn't hurt. |
Championship!
|
Will he accept the backup role, because I don't see him taking the spot from Jenkins.

And the answer seems to be "no": According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, "don't expect the Saints to bring back (free agent) Darren Sharper." The Times-Picayune's Mike Triplett believes Jonathon Amaya has earned the Saints' No. 3 safety job behind Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins. Sharper has reportedly been staying in shape, and is still hopeful of playing in what would be his 15th NFL season. Aug. 27 - 12:20 pm et Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune Rotoworld. |
