Horn? Most over-rated? Pass the pipe please. Yes, he had a disappointing season due mostly to drops and injury, but overrated? See 3 straight Pro Bowls leading up to the year.
You want to talk about players the Saints talked up who didn\'t perform? Try Tebucky Jones, Orlando Ruff, Dale Carter, Donte Stallworth.... I don\'t get Danno\'s beef with Horn. |

I think Joe Horn is a very good reciever and he\'s had some great years since he\'s been a Saint. However, this year wasn\'t one of \'em. Joe had an average season at BEST. Not only that, but Horn is becoming a BIG distraction.
I\'m a BIG Joe Horn fan, but I\'m starting to get a little concerned with some of his actions, most notibly his running off at the mouth. He needs to shut-up and play ball. Joe had a big part in losing a couple of games for us this year. Why not grade Joe Horn by the Aaron Brooks\' measuring stick? |

You wouldn\'t be saying that if this team were still playing right now. Joe Horn was no different this year than he has been in past years. The man talks trash. He\'s done that every year since he came to NO and probably before that too. When he\'s playing Pro Bowl caliber football it\'s OK, but when he has on \"off\" year (mind you that is only about 80 catches for 1,000 yards and 10 TDs - his career high) he is a problem. Winning makes everything OK. Horn is not the problem. Not at all. My only concern is that the more people talk about him the more likely he is to get labeled this year\'s \"locker room cancer\" and get shipped off somewhere where he\'ll have three more Pro Bowl seasons while the Saints watch Pathon and Lewis (b/c Stallworth will be standing on the sideline rubbing his... uh... leg) struggle to combine for 80 catches and 1,000 yards.

I am also a huge Joe Horn fan, so don\'t take this the wrong way: I don\'t think he had a GREAT season, at least not compared to what could have been. Here is an important trend this season: defenses stack the box to prevent Duece from running (of course, this was only moderately effective, but this just means teams are having to put even more effort into stopping our running game), this means fewer people down field to stop Horn. It isn\'t surprising that he had a good year, what is surprising is that he didn\'t have a great year. Did Joe let us down, no - he just could have been better.
I do however have to agree with WhoDat on the concern about Joe mouthing off. It was my impression that he was quite well behaved this year - at least until the last few games. [Edited on 9/1/2004 by JKool] |

Stallworth and M. Lewis get my \"most overrated\" votes.
The runner up though is Cie Grant. Throughout the off season all I heard about was how fantastic this guy is; now we get all this \"he is going to be key next season\". Well I, for one, am waiting to see something. He is an undersized linebacker who was hurt not once but twice this season. I hope I\'m wrong about this, but I expected to see something out of him this year. |

Doesn\'t he have a six year contract or something? You may be right, but Horn is still a good receiver, and let\'s not talk about who is earning their money... Tebucky, cough, cough, Stallworth, sneeze, Brooks...

Our biggest money bust, and to Randy Mueller\'s ultimate demise, was Dale Carter. Jones, Stallworth, and Brooks still have youth and promise going for them.
On Horn, yeah his antics don\'t impress me much but if it affects his co-workers in a positive manor then I can be patient with him. An example of this is Boo Williams getting a touchdown and doing the Joe Horn Jiggle (or whatever that ugly dance is called) after a touchdown. That appears to me to be an homage to a mentor to me. Joe Horn had a bad year only by our expectations. Compared to most receivers around the league Horn\'s year was a success. He\'s a very talented receiver. One \"bad\" year doesn\'t mean that he is on the decline. We have no idea. What if he has the longevity of Jerry Rice? I sure hope so. I\'m with most- if not all- of you. SHUT UP JOE. DO YOUR JOB. |
