New Orleans Saints Final 53 man Roster Breakdown: by Kris Nichols

With training camp winding down and cuts looming as the season gets closer, here are my thoughts on how the 53 man roster might shape up.

This will end up being just like last year with the only change being that Daniel has really improved and Canfield is starting to show some improvement himself. With Brees leading the offense we will always be at the top of the league in offense.

I’m not buying into the talk of the Saints carrying 2 FB’s that hasn’t happened since Ditka was here. I would look for an improvement over last year Hall is a better blocker than Heath Evans and David Thomas can always be shifted back as an H back. Collins will head to the practice squad.

What a difference a year makes after an injury plagued 2010 season at RB the Saints have addressed not only the depth but the talent level at the position. With this group the Saints can easily get to a top 5 rushing team this season not to mention when Ivory comes off the PuP list that will give Payton another fresh set of legs to work with.

Unless injuries rake another position like it did last year I expect the Saints to keep 6 and there shouldn’t be any changes in the top 4 unless Meachem and Henderson swap places on the depth chart. Arrington looks to be a lock to make the roster after seeing comments from Coach Payton regarding him and Roby has shown improvement as a pass catcher which will help his chances on remaining on the roster. While Joe Morgan has been impressive I see him starting off on the practice squad.

Jimmy graham really started to come on at the end of the season look for that to continue as he progresses toward becoming a Pro Bowl caliber TE. Thomas will continue as the solid #2 and Humphries has shown a marked improvement in his receiving skills this preseason. Lorenzen will either be the 4th TE or return to the practice squad. Jimmy Graham will make sure Shockey isn’t missed.

That looks pretty good. I could see King making the team as the no 4 DT over Johnson.

I picked Mitch King over Tom Johnson mainly because of Johnson's injury that kept him from playing on Sun night...

There may be additional upgrades available once all the teams have trimmed their rosters. Some of our cuts might get picked up before their lockers are clean. Billings, Cobbs, JoeMorgan, JCollins, Momma's Boy King, Charleston ought to be on somebody's roster if not our own. 53 has almost become an ugly number. Thankfully, its just as ugly for every team.

I think its uglier for the Saints this year as deep as they are on the 90-man roster, actually. We are a lot more like the Patriots this season where other teams will be picking up our scraps because they are better than what they had in-house all through training camp. Just my HO...

Cobbs will get picked up for sure somewhere. Doubtful on the WR's or the FB though. With the release of Alex Brown, there is now room for Charleston on the 53 for the Saints. I still say Mitch King makes the team over Tom Johnson because of his injury that kept him out of the Raiders game on Sunday night. Billings sucks as a WR and Joe Morgan should clear waivers to make it to the Saints PS, IMHO.

Like to see Swanson Miller against a starter line. He's got BEAST potential.

I just don't see it. He looks kinda slow and marshmellowy.

I might be wrong, but I much prefer Johnson/King.
