Miller's talent level plus mobility is nowhere near what Johnson brings to the table when healthy, and he made those plays against the Raiders because he wasn't blocked. Whether it was by design or because he was so slow of the line that it confused the guard doesn't really matter. The point is that I think King is closer to getting the job than Miller, but both are behind Johnson, and not the least because of the monetary investment that the Saints made in him. The only way he doesn't make the roster on week 1 is if he isn't healthy enough to play, but he should be according to the assessment made when he hurt his calf. I would also like to see Hall signed, but I guess 2 FBs is unlikely these days. |

Yeah, but he's supposed to be ready when the season starts. Miller is just too slow to be effective against first string O-Lines. Remember that Miller hasn't faced the first string guys, but against SF TJ did, and he played really well. If the Saints cut him, he'll be signed instantly by some other team and the Saints lose the almost 2M they payed him in signing bonuses.

And this is where his worth really is for me, because he has great potential and all the things he could improve on with a year to play behind Rogers, Franklin and Ellis. The Saints might lose both Rogers and Franklin after this season, and then Johnson could step up as a replacement starter. But I guess we'll find out later today what they decide to do. |

Up until just recently(after the Oakland game), I had no idea who this Miller guy was. So about playing well all offseason, that's the first I've heard of it. I don't think Miller makes the team just because he had two sacks against the Oakland Raiders. I think King is first in the pecking order, followed by Johnson, then Miller... imo.

We'd be in trouble if we were looking for sacks from our tackles. =/ I find his size very intriguing though.
