While most NFL teams worked to cut 10 players to pare their rosters down to 80 from 90, the New Orleans Saints had to lose 11 while adding one more to the mix.
The “tweaked” hip of Saints kicker Garrett Hartley 5 from Sunday night’s preseason game against the Raiders in Oakland must be a little bit worse than first anticipated by HC Sean Payton. Read the rest here: New Orleans Saints News Last edited by papz; 08-30-2011 at 06:45 PM.. |

Releasing Alex Brown was really surprising, especially with the uncertainty of Smiths suspension still hanging in the air.
Does this mean Jordan is ready to step up? Or Gallette? |

I doubt if they bring anyone else in from outside. It tells me that they trust Cam Jordan enough with the playbook to let him get the start over Brown for a fraction of the cost, right now anyway.
Galette is still hobbled a bit by a tweaked knee and I wonder how Charleston's ankle is healing for them to release Alex Brown so soon. Sounds like a pretty good rotation of ends to me with Smith, Jordan, McBride, Charleston and Galette. My guess would be Jeff Charleston taking Will Smith's place on the right end with Cam Jordan on the left side if any suspension ever comes down. |

I wan't really surprised to se Brown being let go. I had big hopes for him and thought he would be a really good signing but the production just wasn't there.

No real surprises here. I think Charleston gets more action. Especially if Smith's downtime kicks in. The more I see Jeff Charleston, the more I like him. He's active, long, keeps his feet well and is always around the ball. They used the easy button from 90 to 80. Getting to 53 make take some hair with it.
