Banning People?

The whole issue of "banning posters" is really stupid. This is a public forum where people speak their opinion. Even if people are doing "personal attacks" we are all adults, or so I thought, and can take a little banter. I know saints fans can be passionate which causes them to be illogical at times but please everyone, including myself at times, needs to chill. It is just a forum, not some exclusive club that members can be kicked in and out.

It\'s my understanding that the moderators or owner of this site can ban folks as necessary. It can\'t just be a free for all in here. I suppose I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

Joe, I feel like you are going to be busy for the next little while. Good luck. You\'ve had it too damn easy for the last couple of months anyway. Get to work man...

If these rules are broken your post is subject to be deleted and if you persist you will be banned.

These are the rules as posted by the owner of this board, we will live by them!

Banning People?

There is nothing worse than having to read through a bunch of shiznit in a thread to get to the good stuff. If people cannot behave themselves enough to be only moderately distracting (read, annoying), then they shouldn\'t be allowed to waste the rest of our time.

Of course, Joesam already gave a very compelling reason for \"banning\" people, but the above is just one more.

Even though I\'m anti-banning, this is a wrong assumption. It may be a public board, but it is privately owned, and thus they can do whatever they want.

Banning People?

Excuse me I was misunderstood. My post was in no way trying to undermine the authority of the moderators. They have a job to do and I respect that. I was actually aiming my post at people who call for other posters to be banned (as in the case of people asking for gator, Billy, or saintsfan to be banned or leave). I was more or less trying to say it was childish. This is supposed to be forum for people to discuss different ideas so naturally people will disagree. I just find it too common of an occurance to read that \'someone should be banned\' or \'someone should leave\' when many times the people asking this are guilty of the same infractions.

Again I\'m sorry I didn\'t make the intent of my post more clear. It was never intended as a criticism of the moderators, more a criticism of some of the posters.

I do understand the moderators have the power to bann people for repeated infractions. I meant that just because an argument may insue is no reason to ask for someone to leave or be banned (again referring to posters not moderators). The whole idea of someone saying something others don\'t want to hear and being asked to leave, comes to close to censorship to me. Now I don\'t mean that this is the case for this most recent instance but I have seen this sort of behavior over the past season.

Again the way I stated this idea initially was ackward and unclear as to whom I was talking about (moderators or posters). I appologize for not being more clear.

Cool.

I guess I was guilty of misunderstanding you.

Cheers.
