Anyone agree with this about Hartley?
|
I think he makes some good points.
|

I don't know if it's too late or not but if it's an option, I'd put Hartley on the PUP list to begin the season and free up a roster spot for someone that can help us. Kasay has been a solid kicker throughout his career and is more than capable of holding his own for 6 games.
|
Yep..i said that the other day after we signed Kasey.
|
Hartley cannot go on PUP because he has already been in camp and played in preseason.

Is IR an option? |
Yes, they could put him on IR. But then he couldn't come back this season.
My guess is that even if his leg did fly off into the bleachers back in Oakland, the Saints wouldn't actually put him on IR until much later, once they determine it can't possibly be stitched on or replaced with a bionic one. IF Hartley does go on IR, it won't be right away. They will probably give him a few weeks to heal, see how he does, see how the new guy does, see what other roster spots they might need, and then make a decision. It's not like they need to do it RIGHT NOW. |
You know, we don't know what happened to Harley, at least I don't. It may be nothing, it may be a career ending injury, a freak thing. Look at Bo Jackson, one freak injury ended his career. If Hartley's made of glass, welcome to the New Orleans Saints. Seems the whole team is fragile as eggs. If we let Hartley go, something tells me we'll be sorry.

They can't. If Hartley was injured BEFORE training camp, he would have been eligible for PUP (think Darren Sharper last year). You can't be on PUP if you were in camp or played in preseason.

Everybody and their brother blamed Hartley for the Saints not winning the division, Saints not getting HFA in playoffs, etc. |
My good friend Jeff..just told me Hartley out 8 weeks..not confrimed ..so we shall see.

If he is out 8 weeks, then I would IR him. I think we could use the roster spot. Kasay is good for 1 more year.
|
If its 8 weeks that'd b rough. The guy has been coming along fine and I still think he is the longterm solution for us.
|
Agreed, if he is going to be out 8 weeks then the Saints have no real choice and will have to IR him. What a shame, he is an excellent kicker.

i stopped reading at Grandmaster Wang

It looks like he has gotten over his little case of bad kicks and now he throws his leg off. Poor guy can't seem to catch a break.
|
if we signed kasey we have a solid kicker. hartley was coming into his own but boy is he snake bit from day one. we will be okay, we'd rather our own in there but we have 1 of the best not a martini dramatica.

Injury prone and misses a lot of easy clutch kicks. If I'm the Saints, I'd start looking for another young kicker.

Jasper out of LSU was cut by Tampa...

He's been suspended. He's been benched. He's been hurt. He's been money in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. With the inactive rules in the NFL, he or that 5th safety, or that extra OLineman, or that extra LB, or that 6th WR would not be active anyway. Keep the young kicker on the 53, unless there's a rash of injuries, and give him a shot to kick this season.

Some Saints "fans" tend to throw anyone under the bus on a weekly basis.
They aren't loyal fans. That must really suck. |

Hartley signed a long-term deal before the lockout started; the Saints are not just going to cut him loose. |
