I don't know if it's too late or not but if it's an option, I'd put Hartley on the PUP list to begin the season and free up a roster spot for someone that can help us. Kasay has been a solid kicker throughout his career and is more than capable of holding his own for 6 games.

Yes, they could put him on IR. But then he couldn't come back this season.
My guess is that even if his leg did fly off into the bleachers back in Oakland, the Saints wouldn't actually put him on IR until much later, once they determine it can't possibly be stitched on or replaced with a bionic one. IF Hartley does go on IR, it won't be right away. They will probably give him a few weeks to heal, see how he does, see how the new guy does, see what other roster spots they might need, and then make a decision. It's not like they need to do it RIGHT NOW. |

You know, we don't know what happened to Harley, at least I don't. It may be nothing, it may be a career ending injury, a freak thing. Look at Bo Jackson, one freak injury ended his career. If Hartley's made of glass, welcome to the New Orleans Saints. Seems the whole team is fragile as eggs. If we let Hartley go, something tells me we'll be sorry.

I read something like that on wiki but I wasn't sure. Bleh, oh well. I'd hate for him to come back early and miss some kicks. People are going to throw him under the bus and run him over... repeatedly.
