The NFL, for the past decade, has opened its season with a Thursday-night prime-time telecast, usually featuring the defending Super Bowl champion against one of the top teams in the league. This year, opening night presents the past two Super Bowl champions, the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers creating one of the most compelling premiere matchups in a decade.
New Orleans is no stranger to the hoopla surrounding this night, which customarily features pre-game pomp, circumstance, concerts and the unveiling of the home team's Super Bowl championship banner. The Saints, last September, managed a 14-9 opening-night win in the Superdome in an NFC championship game rematch against the Minnesota Vikings, but were on the short end of a 41-10 drubbing by the Indianapolis Colts in 2007 as the Colts opened defense of their Super Bowl XLI championship. read more New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers scouting report | NOLA.com |

green bay did'nt show run for most part of the preseason. is that just a blindfold or they just can't run the rock. if we can get a few 3 and outs early and we can develope a running game early and often, we have a great shot at melting these champs off there tundra. we don't need a shoot out with rodgers. not that we can't handle him or his recieving corps ; its how much abbuse can our defensive backs can take. we are not built to pound on recievers all nite thats why a shoot out is not good for us. i'm not bashing our de backs we just know there history with injury.

Thursday night's appearance by the Saints will be their third in the NFL Kickoff game....
Experience win the game. CB Charles Woodson is 35. I'd try him out later in the game. Henderson and/or Meachum take it to the house. |

I have said this before. The saints need to control the clock.. We need to have a good Blitz package.. The Packers O-line is not as strong as ours, and there running backs are not as strong either.. Key to this game will be stop Aaron Rodgers passing game give him pressure and give it often.. Another big key to this game will be stop Jemichael Finley.. he is a big target and was good up to his injury last year.. If we stop the run, contain Rodgers, and stop Finley.. sounds like a tough task but I feel the Saints can stop them..

Everybody must contain. I am referring mostly to our DE's and LB'ers. Rodgers is very mobile and if we over pursue and don't stay on our assignments it's going to be a difficult win.
