I think our division is tougher and the Saints need to get as many wins as possible. Every game is "Important" really.....

With the way our sched plays out this first game will be the defining moment of the year. A win jump starts the season.

SAINTS

Pack are defending champs and will be favored for most of their games unless they implode.

We are one year removed from Champions and fighting our way back to the top of the heap.

We have the most to gain respect-wise by winning this game. Agreed, the FIRST defining moment.

Saints. Falcons and Bucs could win 10+ games and I feel like, despite our success, because of the way we ended last year, we have a lot to prove.

Packers.
I think either winner will do well going forward.
But the loss will stain the Packers worse.
We will be OK if we play well and lose in Lambo; we would bounce back quickly.
I think the Packers struggle if we spank that ash in the home/season opener.
Mass depression for 2 or 3 weeks until they get their bearings.

More important to the Packers. Psychologically, with most of the media and bookies favoring the Packers, and their being at home, they almost have to hold serve.

However, a Saints victory might well propel this team to a 6-0 or 7-0 start; that might be a good bet if you look at the schedule after the Pack. We would initially have the conference tiebreaker over the Pack, but with still 15 games to go that might not mean much. Confidence-wise, however, a Saints' victory here would be HUGE.

Neither team is doomed if they lose. Both get a real boost if they win. I'm not sure it matters "more" to one team than the other.

It sure pointed out disloyal fans who don't have the principles to stand by their team through thick AND thin.
