Where are they now? Wayne Martin
By Chris Pika, January 14, 2004; 7:40 am NewOrleansSaints.com This is the first in a series of articles about former Saints stars and what they are doing now. Wayne Martin had 82.5 sacks in his 11-year career with the Saints Photo courtesy: Saints Hall of Fame A standout defensive lineman for 11 seasons in New Orleans, Wayne Martin was elected into the Saints Hall of Fame last fall. When he was selected, Martin was shocked when the call came to inform him of his honor. "I almost dropped the phone when I got the call," he said. During his career, the only thing Martin dropped was quarterbacks, as his 82.5 career sacks attest to. That sack figure is second in club history behind only fellow Saints Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson, who had 115. Martin led the Saints in sacks four times (1992, 95, 96 and 97) including 15.5 for minus-102 yards in 1992 and is tied for the club record for most sacks in a game with four against Atlanta on Dec. 3, 1992 and Detroit on Sept. 21, 1997. He had 16 multi-sack games in his career. His best game with the team was his four-sack effort vs. Atlanta in the Superdome. "It was a special night," he said. "I felt like I could not be stopped. I was making tackles and sacks. It was fun." For more... http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news...=631&feature=1 |

Yeah, during the game yesterday, they showed Sam Mills, and I got all choked up. My girl didn\'t understand, so we had a sit down as I tried to explain to her the greatness that was the Saints defense back in the late 80\'s, early 90\'s. As I was telling her stories and sniffling throughout, do you think any compassion was returned my way? Hell no, she looked at me like I had a tree growing out of my neck.

Dude, you look at her the same way when she starts crying watching Dawson\'s Creek or whatever. Same thing - that one chromosome makes all the difference.
