this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It was really ridiculous that some of the media criticized our running backs after the GB game. I even heard one dude already calling Mark Ingram a bust.... seriously wtf?...

You know, looking at the Falcon's objectively and at what Matt Ryan has done over the years; I really don't ever see Matt Ryan winning a Superbowl unless somehow some other aspect of their team carries them. They refer to him as Matty Ice, but I have no clue as to how he got that name because he always folds in pressure situations, always putting out far less production in high profile games. Even when the Falcon's beat us last year, he didn't even come close to impressing. TBH, I'm just sick of media outlets talking about how much of a gamer he is. He really hasn't shown anyone anything, and he's praised like he's gonna be a surefire hall of famer or something.

I don't like Matt Ryan at all. He's a pretty good quarterback. Someone said in an earlier post that someone in the media already called Ingram a bust. That's dumb. It's way too early to start calling Jones a bust.

Time for our O-line to act like they're the pro-bowlers we expected them to be.
If so, any and all of our RB's will shine. |

He will destroy Chicago. Mix it up a bit with Ingram/Sproles, but PT is the man this week in my book. |

I think we need to spread the offense out on short yardage situations more for starters. Many people are saying that they'd put the ball in Drew Brees' hands on the final play, though have mixed opinions on that. I think PT would have been the better back for those important plays(like the goal line play) right now, though I don't think the running back was the problem on that play, the line just simply got beat.
TBH, I thought our running backs looked ok against Green Bay. The entire game we were playing catch-up ball, meaning we didn't really get into a rhythm with the running game(even though I still think there was an opportunity to do this and we neglected it because everything in the passing game was working); so I mean, I wouldn't be overly worried about the running game. Ingram has an incredibly bright future. You can just tell on some of his plays that he just has really amazing balance and is really hard to tackle, and he just bursts through hole like a jet. |

I know Payton wants to carve out certain roles for Ingram... but maybe we should ease him into the role instead of throwing him into the fire... especially in such crucial situations.
I know it's a double edge sword... if he got it, he's on top of the world. But he didn't. |

Give Ingram carries, it is the only way you can speed up his progression. I want to see us feature him in the backfield. |
