Saints’ Kreutz says game won’t be overly emotional for him

METAIRIE, La. – Olin Kreutz sat at his locker in the Saints’ practice facility locker room Thursday, little emotion showing as he was peppered with questions about facing the Bears on Sunday in New Orleans’ home-opener.

A bit more than a month ago, Kreutz figured he’d be in New Orleans for this game; only, he expected to be with Chicago, where was drafted to play in 1998 and spent the past 13 seasons.

But he and the Bears couldn’t agree to terms of a new contract when the lockout ended and, shortly into training camp, signed a one-year deal with the Saints.

Now he faces his old friends, not that that changes his ultimate goal on Sunday.

“It’ll be different playing against them, but they know how I feel about them and I know how they feel about me,” Kreutz said Thursday. “But they also know that I’m going to be there to win that game and I know they’ll be there to win that game too. Once the football game breaks out, it’s usually just a football game no matter how much emotion is there before the game starts.”

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.
