aw no, that threads gone. It was supposed to be funny and smacky, but it wasnt received in the spirit it was meant-- too strongly worded, after I looked at it again, and misrepresented who I am. Mostly, it PO'd a lot of people who might otherwise have a beer with me. Houston's been dissed too many times-- not getting the shuttle they deserved, getting ignored by the media, and getting dissed by people who really do hate. I dont need to be lumped in with all that. but geaux saints! |

Well, first post....
This Texans fan is saying I feel the Saints have the upper hand in this game. Here's my feelings, summed up on the Texans' forum: "I would like to see a lot of two-three step drops from Schaub, hitting some quick slants across the middle. This should help againt the blitz...and nobody in the Saint's secondary will be able to cover AJ and JJ (if he's healthy) on those quick slants across the middle. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this is a real time to need JJ healthy, because he could rack up a ton of YAC on these patterns. I see the blitz packages going in the Saints' favour, because despite how well our line functions, they are still slighly suspect in pass blocking. The Saints' O-Line appear to be better suited to pick up the blitz...though I could be wrong. And, of course I'm worried about getting gashed up the middle by Thomas and Ingram. Really, I favour the Saints in the matchup. If the Texans get those turnovers, then the Texans win...but only if the offense has a better outing than last week." Of course the Saints have been my NFC team, since 1983. Me and my father would watch the Oilers play on television, and pick up the Saints games on short-wave. Good times. I've been for the Saints through thick and thin...except when they're playing against Houston. |

good post, evolvist. Most of us around here have been with the Saints thru thick and thin also.... mostly thin. Out of the 1,000 or so Saints fans I know, I could say maybe 2 that I know are what you'd call bandwagon. Most of us have suffered. I suffered with the Oilers in the 70's myself, also. I remember going nuts with excitement in '74, because they went 7-7. I remember a saints 8-8 season that was almost every bit as exciting as a super bowl run.
pretty reasonable analysis you got there. whats the helmet logo? |

Thanks, Mike.
The helmet logo is actually pretty fitting for this board (though I sport it on the Texans forum, as well). That is the original Houston Texans helmet from 1974, in the World Football League. Why is it fitting? Well, because later in 1974 the Houston Texans relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana and became the Shreveport Steamer from late '74 through 1975, before the league folded. I love me some football history. Thanks for be so cool to Texans fans. Let's have a good game this Sunday! |
