This could be Ingram's breakout game. We need to run the ball to slow down the Texans pass rush. Wade Phillps is trying to use Mario the same way he used Ware in Dallas and having some success. We need to slow down Mario and running the ball or screening over him is the way to go.

I would agree that I have not been impressed. Watched him run all over LSU, and heard all the praise during training camp. I am not seeing it yet. It doesn't look like he is reading the holes or waiting for blocks to set. Thomas def looks like the feature back right now. I am not saying he won't be a star, I just think it is going to take longer than I thought. My opinion on the breakout game is...........Carolina.

I, on the other hand, am very positive about Ingram and his potential/ability.
He seems to have the right mentality to become a really punishing runner after he gets more familiar with the NFL level of play. I was very impressed by his quick cut ability against CHI and he does possess a set of pretty good hands, which will help him to become a complete back for the Saints for years to come. The biggest thing going against him as of now is the fact that PT and Sproles have been really good early on, which in turn has limited the amount of carries he is able to get in a real-game situation, which potentially could drag on his acclamation period from what it could be with more carrying responsibility. But it's a good problem to have... |

As someone else noted, the vast majority of his carries were facing 8 and 9 man fronts.
Teams know that when he's in we're gonna run and they adjust accordingly. |
