this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If I were going to sell-out the Superdome to a sponsor, I wouldn't commit to just 1 sponsor. I'd have a rotating sponsorship or I'd sell the rights to have a company name in the title to the highest bidder ...

If I were going to sell-out the Superdome to a sponsor, I wouldn't commit to just 1 sponsor. I'd have a rotating sponsorship or I'd sell the rights to have a company name in the title to the highest bidder from season to season. That way you wouldn't be stuck with a sponsor that goes bankrupt, or goes out of business, or does something in the market place that you wouldn't want your Dome associated with. Like, can you imagine being stuck with a name "The Enron Superdome"? Or the "Solyndra Superdome"? No, you wouldn't. But you could sell-out to a sponsor for a season to someone like Zatarain's, and for that season it would be the Zatarain's Louisiana Superdome.

Problem is it was purchased by the taxpaying residents of Louisiana back in the mid-'70's.
No, you weren't issued ownership certificates, but how does a state sell what belongs to the people without compensating the people? Up here, in a couple weeks, I'll receive a check for oil royalties. $1,279 bones this year. From the State of Alaska. No income tax. No sales tax. Now THIS is the way the government should operate!!! By the way, I'll be blowing mine in the Quarter when the Lions come to town!! Alaska |

They're not selling the Superdome Alaska, they're just selling the rights to put a corporate name on it, that's all. The Dome still belongs to the state of Louisiana, it just won't be called the Louisiana Superdome anymore, it's going to be called something really lame, depending on who comes up with the most money.

I realize that, Hulka, but it's already named after the people who paid for it. I didn't make that very clear, sorry. Just hate to have you guys get rights sold out from under you.
I mean, if the bid is high enough, it will be the "Saudi Royal Family Superdome" and that is B.S. Alaska |
