Brees Moving up the list
BREES MOVING UP: The 2-yard touchdown pass by quarterback Drew Brees to Robert Meachem did more than give the Saints their first lead of the game.
It also marked the 30th consecutive game Brees has thrown at least one touchdown pass, moving him into a third-place tie in NFL history with Dan Marino for the most consecutive games with a scoring pass. Johnny Unitas (47) has the record, and Brett Favre (36) is second. Brees' three touchdown passes gives him 244 for his career, moving him into a tie with John Hadl for 16th on the all-time NFL list. I tend to agree but I can't help wondering if his statements regarding the older guys not deserving more money will have any effect on his ability to get in. There is little doubt in my mind that he will have all the credentials and more to be voted in, but if the guys voting have a long memory, I could see where that might play against him.

Why do you think that? I have already heard some comments from some of the vets...Dan Pastorini being an example. I don't think Pastorini is in the Hall...I could be wrong...but if his attitude towards Drew is any indication of the way the vets feel...he could be in trouble.

Thanks...I didn't know that. I just naturally assumed that the present members had a say in who is voted-in. If that's not the case, then yeah, he probably won't have any problems at all.

Manning and Brady are 1st ballot HOFers right now. Brees is a few more solid years away I think, but once he has those his stats will be undeniable.
I agree Saintswrath, we should remember and be thankful for every moment right now. This is the glory days of Saints football. |
