New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton reiterated Monday that the team was deeply satisfied with its come-from-behind win Sunday over the Texans at the Superdome, but he said he expects to find much to correct when the staff begins digesting game tape over the next 24 hours. On what may prove equally important over that same time frame -- the subject of injuries -- Payton was characteristically coy.
The NFL does not require teams to issue an injury report until Wednesday, and it has never been Payton's style to divulge anything but the scantest information about a player's health in any event. Nevertheless, the Saints are staring at a distinct possibility they will have to dig deep on their roster or venture into the inactive player market to fill holes, particularly on offense. In particular, the Saints and their medical teams were assessing the damage to offensive tackle Zach Strief, a six-year veteran who had earned his first starting job and was starting to play at a high level when he was felled by what appeared to be a knee injury Sunday. The Saints and others familiar with the matter were tight-lipped Monday on the extent of Strief's injury, although league sources said the club has tentatively reached out to some other tackles floating on the market, an indication it is possible Strief may have to be placed on injured reserve. Charles Brown can do the job just fine imho. But it will be important to get another player on the roster to replace Strief.

With the way they are talking, I think we need to prepare ourselves for Strief being on IR.....

It appeared his knee just gave out. That usually means an ACL.

I also think Brown did a good job, but we definitely need some depth now if Strief goes on IR.
