Patrick Robinson needs more development

New Orleans Saints CB Patrick Robinson Needs More Development

He's been thrust into a starting role, I'd give a little more time to pass judgement, but comparrison to Jason Davis this early, no! As for playin' off that far,he'll get the feel of the reciever's speed and when Gregg William's feels safe with him he'll let him close a little instead of playin' off.

spkb25 10-02-2011 08:30 AM

No, I agree, not jason Dvaid, but young. We need Porter to get healthy. I'll take Pporter fully healthy for second half of season, pleaseeee!

Fleured 10-02-2011 08:31 AM

bring in Mike McKenzie as a practice consultant! :bng:

Great, another First Round Pick that needs development!?!

First round picks should be immediate starters and definite upgrades at their positions, unless replacing HOF players

strato 10-02-2011 09:28 AM

Now thats is a silly site..we could do without their insight..

For the record M.J was suspect in the beginning..i say give P.R some more time before we compare him to Jason David.

papz 10-02-2011 09:49 AM

Article was weak and written by a glass half full person. Comparing him to the "Black Hole" aka "Deer in the headlights" aka "teh suck face" is absurd. It was widely known he was raw coming out of college but the athleticism and talent was there... his ceiling was sky high and we felt could develop him into a shut down corner. This is way too early to jump the gun on him and I don't see how you can blame him for giving receivers and 8 yard cushion when it's our scheme. That's what's being called genius. Jason David was always a cover 2 guy while Patrick Robinson has Antonio Cromartie type ability.

Give him time... and I think he'll be special.

So how do you feel about Deuce? He took a year to develop. I could name a million and one draft picks that weren't immediate starters and/or definite upgrades their rookie year. I think your logic is flawed and a bunch of horse poop... especially for contending teams drafting in the lower half of the first round.

I think you should just go make a sign and protest for Loomis' job in front of the Superdome everyday. It's quite apparent you think you're in the wrong profession and feel the need to gripe at every move that doesn't work out right away. I'd probably punch myself in the face if I had to sit there and watch a football game with you... I think someone like Canton or Choup would be more entertaining.

strato 10-02-2011 10:07 AM

How can Loomis not doing his job even be in question here?...the man brought us a superbowl...P.R will be fine look at Karem Jackson..he was a higher first round pick at CB than P.R...I think he will be fine with more coaching and game exp...I also believe Loomis isn't alone in these making these picks..I mean who can cover Andre J. anyway?...nobody..the Giants used a no name receiver to toast Nhamdi and Dallas did the same to Revis.

Robinson'll be fine but I wish he'd play more physically

FireVenturi 10-02-2011 10:28 AM

Also, keep in mind that two of the first three games we played have been against top passing offenses. They torch most db's they play.

I thought he played a good game today, and not only talking about the pick.

I believe he also had a nice tackle for a loss right before the pick too.

Last year he was much more effective on the INSIDE, when he was a backup. This year he starts on the outside, and yes, it seems he is still getting his bearings.

But I love him. He is a hard-hitting, great open-field-tackling S.O.B.

Young man showed some heads up plays today...

I like when he undercut his block and made a tackle for a loss as much, if not more than the interception...

He's looking better, but he's got some more work...

homerj07 10-02-2011 07:56 PM

There are not many people who should be compared to Jason David & PR is not one of them. I don't know if he will be "special" but he will be "good"

RockyMountainSaint 10-02-2011 08:07 PM

He is the best "athlete" that we have in the secondary.

In the past, the athlete tag was akin to The Scarlet Letter.

Now, we have Gregg Williams to coach him up.

He will be one of the top 10 CBs in the league.

Rugby Saint II 10-03-2011 01:46 PM

He surprised me with his coverage on Sunday. It seemed like the difference between night and day. We've got a good defensive coach that is only going to help him get better.

I think Jenkins is the best athlete but P.Rob is showing some promise.

Really??? So every first round pick that we make should immediately replace a starter in their first year.
