The New Orleans Saints and Mercedes-Benz announced Monday that they have reached a 10-year naming rights agreement that will turn the 36-year-old Louisiana Superdome into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Officials from the Saints, Mercedes-Benz and the state are expected to make the official announcement at a news conference Tuesday at the iconic stadium on Poydras Street where they'll unveil plans for the new signage in and around the stadium, where the Mercedes-Benz name and logo will be featured prominently. "This is a great, great partnership," Gov. Bobby Jindal said Monday. "I know for many years there have been attempts to sell this sponsorship, and I think the restructured deal and the new Superdome are two of the reasons this is actually happening. So I think this is great for the Saints and great for the state." It has been speculated that naming rights might be in the works, and there were rumors of a few different corporations mentioned, but apparently nothing was finalized until now. Mecedes-Benz does have an international reputation and is known for being classy. At least the dome isn't going to be known by a cheesy sounding corporate name like a few other stadiums and facilities. It's good for the money, but I think changing the name sucks. Even if it the Mercedes Benz Superdome. That just sounds like **** to me.

I don't like it. But I don't like selling naming rights to stadiums period. And to top it off we sold them to a foreign company from a country that doesn't know or care what American Football is.

Not that I like it, but I think that's the best company to have the rights. You can't go wrong with a nice, black Mercedes. Gold rims? Awwww shiz.
