18. Will Poole, CB, U.S.C. When the Saints traded up with Arizona to acquire the #6 overall pick in last years Draft most thought their goal was to land Washington St. cornerback Marcus Trufant. They are pleased with Johnathan Sullivan, but I don't think they would mind having a player like Trufant in their secondary either. Word is they have conceded the fact that an influx of young talent at corner should be a priority so choosing a player like Poole would make complete sense at this point in round one. After bouncing around early in his career Poole has solidified himself as a legitimate first round prospect thanks to a strong senior campaign with the Trojans. 49. New Orleans Saints: Michael Boulware, OLB, Florida St. An athletic linebacker to replace Derrick Rodgers. 61. New Orleans Saints (f/STL): Bob Sanders, S, Iowa If this guy was a little taller he would be a lock for round one. 82. New Orleans Saints: Quincy Wilson, RB, West Virginia Lacks top speed but will be a much needed backup for Deuce McAllister. I wouldn't rule out all of these, but I see no linemen from Georgia here. Haslett can't avoid picking one with his first 3 choices. |
