Shockey is pissed the Saints released him
|
I really don't blame him..but i wouldn't say he is pissed..more like hurt...and he is having a decent season with a rook throwing him the ball..he could have a decent game against us this week ...especially in the blocking game..
|
"It's a business. I know that. I don't hold anything personnel - well, not that long. But I do hold things personal."
He doesn't hold things personnel but does? Absolute nonsense. What isn't nonsense is cutting him. Missing 3-4 games a year and constantly playing hurt. He's hurt right now. What is nonsense is letting Graham ride the wood when he's more than capable of contributing just as much as Shockey would have and likely more. Get over it. Saints put you in position to earn a SB TD and a ring. Love you Shockey but come on. |
At least he got to play and score in a Super Bowl with the Saints.

Oh he got his Carolina Panties in a bunch...poor fellow...

I was kinda pissed when Shockey was released too ..... then Jimmy Graham showed up and kicked the door down, sorry its a business and you have to just move on. I'm sure he'll always be welcomed in NO when he retires
|
I know what he is saying ... if you've ever been cut loose from a job you liked ... it isn't personal, but it is. In your head you know it isn't personal but in your heart it still can feel that way.

The Saints paid him HANDSOMELY to play. Why should he be bitter. He was given the opportunity to seek employment with whomever he wished.
My bet is that no one would trade for him. If you can't get even a 7th rounder for a starter, it tells you a little about his perceived value. Too often injured, too little impact in games. |
I liked Shockey in a Saints uniform, I like him now. Graham is a much younger, much healthier and just as tenacious version of Shockey, without all the drama. Remember Vegas or was it Tahoe when the dehydration thing sent him to the hospital, I never bought that bull for a second.
|
I always enjoyed his intensity. I wish we would have kept him around. He was fun to watch.

I'm j/k, j...but I have to admit that I have never been a Shockey fan. I will go one step further and admit to the world that my dislike for him started when he started "showing-up" Eli with his on-field antics. Yes, I am an Eli homer, but I am not embarrassed by it. I feel that his father is one of the classiest guys that ever played the game and I can't help but pull for his sons. It is almost like I am finding out what it might have been like if Archie had gone to another franchise like people talk about all the time. Back to Shockey, though. It all came to a head one day when a defender intercepted a pass intended for him, he thought he was interfered with, and instead of tackling the defender with the ball, he stood around with his arms flying around in front of a ref lobbying for a call. That was it, for me. (He was a Giant at the time, btw.) |
i dont really care. he was good 4 years ago and decent when we won the superbowl. he was the 3rd best te on our team, overpaid, and was hurt constantly. he was dead weight.
|
Shockey is going to get his "big catch" on Sunday, the one where he showboats and jumps around and jaws and does his little vindication dance against the Saints....you know it will happen at least once on Sunday so I'm not going to get upset when it does...I just hope it is just some 3rd down short of the marker, or a TD in garbage time, and it's not a real game changer. I'm not going to freak out when he does it...
During the Giants game in '09, during a time out, Shockey was in the huddle on the sidelines with the Saints defense, telling them what to look for and what the Giants were probably gonna do on the next play....I hope he doesn't pull a Fujita and give away the farm. Hopefully he's forgotten most of the Saints playbook in a haze of booze, Vegas strippers and concussions since then. |
Love him or hate him - that's what makes him a great competitor. He's not gonna give an inch to anyone.

He might have made a good LINEBACKER!!!

That man could not run a football. He could catch one, but touch him with a feather and it would tip him over. That said, he was valuable to an extent, and there ought to be a way a player can close out a career with the team he rode to the Superbowl. BUT you gotta be productive!!!

I'll Always Have Respect For J.Shock But Hey You're Still Getting Paid And At Least Unlike The Giants The Saints Actually Accepted You As Part Of The Team And Invited You To The Super Bowl Parade.....

Jimmy Graham is making me forget Shockey and i really liked Shockey. I Didn't want to see him leave. Shockey couldn't play a full season either.

My wife was pissed when we let that man-child go also. I think we should have kept him another year, at least, with Graham.
|
I don't see anything wrong with what he said. Compared to other players rants, and finger pointing, I thought it was pretty modest actually. I am a Shockey fan, always have been. Wish he could have retired a Saint, but like he said, it's a business. I wish him nothing but the best, and I still rock his jersey!

I love the guy, but your no good if you can't play at 100% |
Refer back to Jerry Glanville and his definition of NFL.

After Shockey's "mouthing off" yesterday, I'm right there with the Cajun Cannon calling him "trailer trash." (And that does not mean everyone who lives in a mobile home is trash, so noone be offended, please. It means he's acting like those people you see on Jerry Springer! JMO!
