Skip Bayless loved Roman Harpers Hit

Just finished watching a segment on it...Skip loved it

Harper was quoted as saying he didnt like the way Smith was prancing into the endzone..and wanted to send a message.lol..I loved the hit..and i think Mr Suckerpunch aint seen the last of this..cant wait to get him in the dome!

Harper you have gained my respect!:bng::bng:

44Champs 10-11-2011 11:48 AM

Oh no… I hope Skippy doesn't jump on our bandwagon. He's such a tool!!
But yeah… I'm glad Harper laid that hit on "cheapshot smith"

strato 10-11-2011 12:00 PM

Yeah is a tool...but i liked how he defended Harper against the two Stews...

jnormand 10-11-2011 12:00 PM

I watched it too. It was funny to see Bayless say Smith was crying like a little girl.

FireVenturi 10-11-2011 12:13 PM

I thought the hit was awesome. I dislike the Panthers and Steve Smith because they are in last place but act like they are the best thing since sliced bread...

lynwood 10-11-2011 12:16 PM

A cheap shot is a cheap shot. You want to make a point stop him from catching the ball or lay his arse out before making a TD.

I doubt - Veeeery Seriously - that this "cheap shot" by Harper was unprovoked. Certainly prancing into the endzone could be considered provocation, but I have no doubt Smith had been running his mouth.

At some point players just get tired of that crap. It's a man's game, not pop warner. Run that mouth and you're libel to get dealt with.

+ 1 on the Harper hit. I hope to see more when Smith comes to the Dome.

:bng:

darstep 10-11-2011 12:42 PM

I would rather had Greer break up the thing.
Harper's hit was low class, and sends the wrong message.
There was plenty good time to show Smith how much he loved him, and that wasn't the time.

I thought it was the perfect opportunity to shut him up. Kickoffs are sailing into the seats because of the rule change. What's 15 yards on a kickoff when we aren't going to get a chance to return it anyway?

Perfect timing.

It's debatable I suppose whether it was low-class or not, but I for one enjoyed the message it sent. Talk dat smack and you libel to get lit up. :bng:

strato 10-11-2011 01:17 PM

Well i for one liked it..and would welcome it when a punk ass like Smith is involved...If you watch Smith held on to Jenkins facemask for dear life..he knew that ass was fixing to get stomped...

If anyone goes to the dome be sure and get a chant going ..PUNK..as loud as you can...

I'm just saying light him up when he comes cross the middle.
Lay him out and seperate him from the ball on 3rd and 11.
Turn his feet up in the air so he hears foot steps on the next throw.
Get mad at him before he makes a play or crosses the goal line.
At that point you need to be mad at yourself.

papz 10-11-2011 01:41 PM

And you guys ragged on me for saying I'd have no issue with someone popping Graham after his touchdown against Green Bay.

Now some of you are praising Harper for popping Smith.

Tsk tsk... funny how things work.

I agree a cheap shot is a cheap shot... it's tasteless and classless. I understand 2 wrongs don't make a right... but at the same time, it happens and it's apart of the game. That said, I would have liked Harper to be above that... but that's because I expect the best out of our players.

And get a penalty that might give them more points?..I think where he did it was just right..

Saintswrath 10-11-2011 01:49 PM

If your going to hit him.. KNOCK HIM THE **** OUT! - GW.

Doesn't make a single difference in the world. Taunting is taunting period. The color of the jersey doesn't make it right or anymore acceptable.

Mardigras9 10-11-2011 02:04 PM

It was an illegal hit and he was penalized for it. It certainly was a message hit, it was not a aweful shot. If Harper would have sent hi flying or out of the game, different story.

strato 10-11-2011 02:05 PM

Does to me...Smith is a punk..and how do you know he wasn't taunting and talkin **** before hand...Roman just didn't snap..that was coming for a reason...and how come Smith didnt get a penalty for wrestling Jenkins to the ground by his facemask?...and i never jumped you for the Graham incident..we have different views on this ..its kewl

papz 10-11-2011 02:13 PM

Smith should have been thrown out the game. I hope his fine will be on par with what Harper got.

It was a generalized statement strato... I didn't go back and read names from the old thread or anything.

It certainly felt good, but I agree a cheap shot is a cheap shot and should probably be avoided. With all of the bad blood in that game I'm just glad we left with a W. If nothing else it should add some interest to the next match-up.

JoanieNTX 10-11-2011 02:24 PM

Smith has a history of taunting and disrespectful behavior towards other players. And I'm sure he wasn't out there teaching a Sunday School lesson before the Harper hit, either! Hubby used to play college ball, and he said there just comes a time when it "has to be done." Some jerks just have to be shut up. Some call it classless.....well, the midget's mouth would come into play here. I call it "necessary." ;) Roman, you were my hero Sunday, cuz I had had about enuf of all that crappola with them starting fights, and the zebras on their team, too!

I know its kewl...on to the Yucs!

Danno 10-11-2011 03:07 PM

I didn't like Harper delivering a cheap shot (and it was), but I'm glad that Steve Smith was the recipient of it.

Ahhh... memories of George Teague and Terreble Owens.

Belair57 10-11-2011 03:16 PM

Bayless is a DOUCHE BAAAAG!! I dont care if he supports us, hates us, loves us...The Guy can go make love to Tony Homo..

The correct term would be...Douchenozzle...lol..where ya been?:D

Cory9289 10-11-2011 04:22 PM

Well if it was reversed, and our WR was hit like that we'd be in rage about it. Although I don't like "cheap shots", I was happy to see Smithy get it.

perfectly put saintfan, its something i wanted to say but could'nt put it together. that dammm thug has to be dealt with and it should be normal to him to get a blind shot.

Well, one of our guys farted on Newton and they threw a flag. I guess we figured that was the best we could do. :brood:

dar, u are right its bad and cheap and low class. but u can blame me for that shot at him also because i put myself on that field for that 1 play. its not right but that guy has had it coming. them teammates he layed out and out 1 of them out of the league because of a rearranged face. it just brought the worst out of me and its not like me to say something like that. something was not right about the whole thing, why did he do that?

its coming to cam but it won't be a cheap shot. maybe some other defense won't miss.

jcp026 10-11-2011 05:13 PM

I didn't like it.

Euphoria 10-11-2011 06:47 PM

I didn't like it either... shows you who you are, classless and cheap shot artist.

I almost like it if it fired out our D to play fired up but well they could be a lost cause again.

We don't need to play like that and we certainly don't need more D penalties.

Lets play like professionals and not worry about the babies who show boat.

ALL TOO True - BUT what about the cheap shot that ass smith laid on our guys afterwards THAT DID NOT GET CALLED???

jnormand 10-11-2011 08:46 PM

Yeah I was wondering why Smith had Malcom. What the hell happened there?

saintsfan1976 10-11-2011 09:31 PM

I liked it. Let's not be naive gang, I'm sure Smith did something to make Harper act, well, unlike Harper...

And to see how Smith reacted... yeah, he is an ass

hitta 10-11-2011 09:46 PM

I don't think that hit would have occurred if not for the NFL kickoff rule, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more hits like that after touchdowns. When the majority of kickoffs go out of the endzone, does it really matter if you deck them?

Also, injuries are up this year(which could probably be accounted to the lockout). Something else though I don't think Goodell and some of the people on the rules committee realize is that injuries usually occur with stuff that happens in a very small window, players leaving their leg in a place it can be rolled over, getting an arm caught in the wrong place, etc. When a player is constantly thinking about how to hit players instead of how to position their bodies, they leave themselves vulnerable, and end up putting themselves in illogical positions just to avoid being flagged.

The thing I don't think the rules committee realizes a lot of times is the rules they pass often effect other areas of the game other than just the intended target.
