Why are we going for the legs when we tackle?
I use the term "tackle" lightly, but every time one of our players tries to tackle an opponent they go for the legs, its deliberate, and causing a lot of misses. I know our guys can not wrap up, but there has to be a better solution.

Going for the legs is correct but you have to wrap them up not just try to throw a shoulder into them. Go with your arms stretched out and if they try to jump over you, you can still grab their legs not be looking down at the turf.

The team might need to start a structured fine schedule for piss-poor tackle attempts.
Intentionally balling up and falling toward a runners legs at the line of scrimmage, when he's still more than a yard away makes it way too easy for him dodge you. It's an embarrasing excuse for a tackle attempt! It looks like a whiffed attempt at a power hit from the Madden game. Review the game tape and make the players pay a fine to the team for every half-hearted attempt! |

We shouldn't be going for the legs we should be wrapping at the waist then sliding down to to pull the legs together......either that or stand square and hit them hard in the belly button and drive them to the ground.

I was always taught to aim for the belt buckle and run right through it. We're aiming at shoe laces.

When was the last time we HIT anybody?
You knid of have to NOT close your eyes. It really does help. I understand Greer's "business decision" to go low; there was a train coming. Our DB's have no business at the top of tackle list every week. They aren't built for that. They are built for speed. All that banging kind of takes away their 5th gear. They need Jordan, Rogers, Franklin, Ellis, Smith and company to step it up. One tackle a day almost deserves a pay cut. |
